New Technologies Debut To Ease Fluids Separation
HOUSTON-Baker Hughes Inc. has
released its TRETOLITE™ SNAP fluids
separation technologies, which it says
help oil and gas operators maintain dry
oil and good water quality, while also
stabilizing operations and reducing costs.
According to the company, this next
generation of chemical solutions includes
water clarification and demulsification
technologies that improve performance
in steam-assisted gravity drainage facilities,
as well as conventional and other uncon-

ventional onshore and offshore fields.
In SAGD applications, TRETOLITE
SNAP technologies help minimize oilin-water (OIW) levels to improve water
quality for reuse, reducing heat exchanger
fouling and related equipment cleanout
expenses, Baker Hughes reports. The
company adds that the new products also
reduce basic sediment and water (BS&W)
content in the oil to decrease recycling
and slop oil trucking, providing operational
efficiencies and cost savings.
In other unconventional and conventional onshore and offshore applications,
Baker Hughes says TRETOLITE SNAP
technologies help efficiently lower OIW
and BS&W levels to enable regulatorycompliant disposal or discharge, and to
minimize oil losses from high OIW content. Operators also may attain a tighter
oil/water interface with these new products,
which helps reduce slop oil production
and improve overall oil and water separation, Baker Hughes concludes.

MAVERICK Deploys Tool To Speed Commissioning
COLUMBIA, IL.-MAVERICK Technologies, a Rockwell Automation company,
has released eStart, which it dubs a groundbreaking new app that keeps instrumentation
and process control projects on track by
making commissioning more efficient and
transparent than ever.
At the beginning of a startup and commissioning project, MAVERICK says it
uses eStart to digitally gather data and
create loop folders to house all relevant instrument data and check sheets. Digital
folder creation not only greatly reduces
documentation time, but also keeps all
electronic data at technicians' fingertips,
wherever they are, Maverick explains.
To improve loop shooting efficiency,
Maverick continues, eStart's Near Me feature uses GPS technology to locate nearby
instruments and identify their stage of
commissioning.
"Loop shooting and documentation can
eat a lot of time," observes consultant Mark

McMakin. "With eStart, loop-shooting time
is reduced by up to 10 percent and documentation time is reduced by up to 30 percent, ensuring a more efficient workflow."

Online Training Available
On Drill String Standards
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL.-T H Hill
Associates, a Bureau Veritas company, has
launched DS-1® Online, which the company
describes as an online channel that provides
training on preventing drill string failures.
Developed by Oilennium, Ltd., a Petrofac
company that provides online training services to the oil and gas industry, DS-1
Online helps users learn through custom
interactive scenarios how their actions
affect drill strings, T H Hill says.
To illustrate, the company cites a scenario
that requires a user to set the temperature
at which a liquid penetrant inspection is
conducted. If the penetrant is too hot, it
will dry instead of running into the crack,
but if it is too cold, it will become too thick
to flow properly. This teaches the user how
critical it is to maintain the correct ambient
temperature, T H Hill says.
The company adds that every user enrolled in DS-1 Online has access to regular
live-streamed discussions with instructors
who not only have worked in the drilling
industry, but are qualified engineers. Through
live online video discussions, trainees can
ask questions to quickly clarify aspects of
the course, T H Hill mentions.

Summit ESP Celebrates 7000th ESP Installation
TULSA-According to Summit ESP,
the company completed its 7,000th electric
submersible pump installation during the
fourth quarter of 2016 on a well for
Apache Corp., the Andrews Unit 550 in
Andrews County, Tx., at a setting depth
of 8,404 feet.
This achievement reflects customers'
