above the five year average. Gas storage
in the Mountain Region was 6 Bcf less
than a year ago.
Gas storage in the Pacific Region
was 228 Bcf on April 21, 6.2 percent
below the five-year average and 16 Bcf
more than the 212 Bcf stored on March
24, which was 6.6 percent below the
five-year average. Pacific Region gas
storage on April 21 was down 48 Bcf
from a year ago.
In the South-Central Region, gas
storage levels on April 21 were 1.005
Tcf, 28.4 percent above the five-year
average and up 73 Bcf from the 932 Bcf
in storage on March 24, which was 28.2
percent above the five-year average. The
April 21 gas storage level for the SouthCentral Region was down 131 Bcf from
a year ago. ❒
API says, NGL production was 2.1
percent lower than March 2016's output.
API says Baker-Hughes Inc. counted
789 active oil and gas drilling rigs in the
United States in March, a 6.0 percent
increase from February, and 64.7
percent above the March 2016 level.
This was the highest rig count since
November 2015, API reports.
The association says crude oil stocks
ended in March at 533.5 million
barrels-the highest inventory level for
any month since 1930. The report says
crude stocks were up 7.2 million
barrels, or 1.4 percent, from February,
and were up 32.0 million barrels, or 6.4
percent, from March 2016.
Total petroleum deliveries in March
2017 moved up 0.2 percent from March
2016 to average nearly 19.7 MMbbl/d,
API continues. It says that was the highest
level for March deliveries in nine years. ❒
Crude Production Rises
For Third Straight Month
WASHINGTON-Although still
below year-ago levels, U.S. crude oil
production in March increased for the
third straight month in 2017, according
to the American Petroleum Institute's
Monthly Statistical Report.
At an average of 9.2 million barrels a
day, domestic crude oil production in
March was up 1.4 percent over
February, but was down 0.2 percent
from March 2016, and was down 1.8
percent from first quarter 2016.
Natural gas liquids production,
meanwhile, was up from the prior month
and the prior first quarter, but was down
from the prior year, according to the
report. NGL production in March
averaged 3.4 MMbbl/d, which was the
second highest level for the month on
record, API reports. This was 0.4 percent
above February's output and 0.8 percent
higher than first quarter 2016. However,
