VanZandt Closes Purchase
Of Automated Valve Expert
ODESSA, TX.-VanZandt Controls
LLC, an OFS Energy Fund portfolio
company that provides valve automation,

D.A. Criswell Sales Inc.
Criswell packages, distributes and
services automated valves. David Criswell
founded the company in 1992 in Canyon,
Tx. The company has a team with 43
years of combined experience supplying
valves and automation equipment to numerous industries, including the oil and
gas production, pipeline, chemical and
power industries, VanZandt describes. It

Fairmount Santrol Leases West Texas Sand Reserve
CHESTERLAND, OH.-Fairmount
Santrol says it has entered into a definitive
40-year lease agreement for 3,250 acres
of sand reserves in Winkler County, Tx.,
in the Permian Basin near Kermit.
The reserves contain 165 million tons
of 40/70 and 100 mesh sand, Fairmount
estimates. The company says the mine
and processing facility it plans to build
on the site will have a production capacity
of 3 million tons of proppant sand a year,
and is scheduled to begin production during the second quarter of 2018.
"The unique characteristics of this
property, which include contiguous reserves of fine mesh sand, water availability
and prime access to existing roads, make
this an excellent opportunity for Fairmount
Santrol to expand our broad product offering by providing a low-cost, in-basin
solution to meet the changing requests
from some of our customers," says Jenniffer Deckard, the company's president
and chief executive officer.
In response to customer demand, Fairmount Santrol reports, it is reopening its
mine and sand processing plant in
Shakopee, Mn. The facility should be

Piercer Helps Vallourec Meet Steel Tube Demand
BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT,
FRANCE-Vallourec reports it has brought
a high-performance piercer on line at its
Düsseldorf-Rath tube plant in Germany.
Piercing solid steel billets and hot
rolling them on a mandrel are two key
stages in producing seamless steel tubes,
Vallourec says, explaining that controlling
these processes is crucial to the tubes'
dimensional and metallurgical quality.
The new piercer will enable Vallourec
to achieve a wider variety of dimensions
(including outside diameter, thickness
and length) and manufacture a wider
range of materials, the group says. It
points out that the piercer consumes
less energy for each ton produced.
The piercer will help Vallourec meet
growing demand for high-strength and/or
high-alloy steel tubes, the group assures.
Alloys that exhibit an optimal

strength/weight ratio are in high demand
for a variety of applications, including
drilling platform structural components,
casing tubes, couplings and line tubes,
Vallourec reports.

more reliable and more efficient, is an
undeniable asset for the group in Europe
and is aligned with our global approach

To Predict ESP Failures
ALBERTA, CANADA-To advance
electric submersible pump monitoring,
Petrospec Engineering Ltd. and SercelGRC report they have introduced the
Sensor-Tube ESP™ system. The companies
say the system combines GRC's Spy Pro
waterproof TEC wire ESP gauge with
Petrospec's multipoint temperature monitoring.
According to the companies, SensorTube ESP combines fiber optic distributed
temperature sensing with the TEC wire
in a single downhole cable and has an integrated surface data acquisition system
and real-time data processing. Observed
temperature changes in monitored ESP
components can be modeled against historical events to accurately predict the
onset and timing of critical failure modes,
Petrospec and GRC report.
The integrated distributed temperature
sensing system also provides full wellbore
temperature monitoring to detect temperature changes and nonconformities to
characterize flow conditions, well integrity,
and reservoir response to well operations,
the companies add.
They mention that the product is being
introduced in tandem with Petrospec's
Power-Tube™ rigless ESP system, a coiled
tubing-deployed ESP where all power,
process and sensor cables are encapsulated
and integrated within coiled tubing to
allow for rapid hot, live well interventions.
