Quartzdyne Now Offers
Pair Of Memory Tools
SALT LAKE CITY-Quartzdyne
says oil field operators will experience
increased reliability and performance
from the company's Quartz and Piezo
memory tools, released early in 2017.
According to the company, the tools
promise to be game-changers in memory-gauge accuracy and durability, because they have been designed to monitor high-temperature and high-pressure
surveys with an increased and more
sensitive response, while simultaneously detecting interference and buildup
in standard operational workflows.
The Quartz memory gauge features
a high-accuracy quartz pressure sensor,
a hybrid circuit rated for 392 degrees
Fahrenheit, long-lasting lithium battery,
welded circuit enclosure, metal-tometal seal, and a side-port connector
for easy access, Quartzdyne describes.
Among its reservoir evaluation and
well testing applications, the Quartz
unit performs drill stem tests, production
optimization and long-duration tests.
The Piezo memory gauge
offers 5.5 million datasets
of memory storage to capture and retain larger or multiple datasets. Quartzdyne
says the unit has a customized Piezo sensor with
enhanced sealing to improve
reliability. The Piezo tool
can be used for enhanced
oil recovery, conveying
coiled tubing, and in TCP
operations and monitoring.

Emerson Offers Controller With Exceptional Scalability
AUSTIN, TX.-To provide scalable
automation, Emerson announces it is
launching the DeltaV™ PK controller.
The company describes the controller
as the first that manufacturers can scale
down for skid units or scale up to be
merged into the DeltaV distributed control
system (DCS) in a larger plant.
Many industries use PLCs for small
applications, which Emerson warns can
create islands of automation. According
to the company, the DeltaV PK offers an
effective, easy-to-implement standa-lone
automation controller akin to a PLC but
has the features of a full-scale DCS, including advanced batch production, recipe
management, execution and historization.
The ability to operate as a stand-alone
unit or to become part of a DeltaV DCS
eliminates operational complexity and
dramatically improves the performance,
safety, and efficiency of the entire project
and operational lifecycle, Emerson says.

The new controller will simplify capital
projects by enabling OEM skid-builders
to design and produce skids in the same
way they do today, while eliminating the
costs, time and risks associated with integrating a PLC into their control system,
Emerson says. The company highlights
that the DeltaV PK has six Ethernet ports,
support for a variety of communication
protocols and built-in redundancy.
