AI Converts Drilling Data Into LWD Measurements
HOUSTON-Quantico Energy Solutions announces QDrill, an artificial intelligence solution to log challenging
zones, using drilling data available on
every well.
"QDrill is uniquely able to provide
sonic, density and neutron logs without
adding logging tools down hole. Delivered
at the point of the gamma sensor, this
near-bit measurement provides data earlier
than conventional logging-while-drilling
tools, enabling faster response times for
drilling optimization, real-time pore pressure updates and earlier detection of formation transition zones, salts or other
drilling features," says Barry Zhang,

He adds that the AI-based solution can
convert standard drilling data into logs to
cover areas where LWD tools fail.
According to Quantico, the service
can reduce logging costs, standby charges
and nonproductive time; eliminate the
risk of losing a tool or nuclear source;
and remove the artificial limit on drilling
speeds sometimes imposed by logging
tools. Tests conducted by major oil companies demonstrate that QDrill is comparable to conventional open-hole logging
tools in terms of accuracy and reliability,
and has the same accuracy as LWD tools
in deep water, the company assures.

OFS Portal Celebrates
Serving 300 Operators
HOUSTON-OFS Portal LLC says it
has signed an electronic data agreement
(EDA) with more than 300 upstream oil
and gas operators, including supermajors,
and national and international oil companies.
"Operators really are focusing on effective,
efficient supply chain management, and are
collaborating with suppliers as we continue
in a leaner for longer market," says Chris
Welsh, OFS Portal's chief executive officer.
OFS Portal's website says the memberbased group enables operators to implement
eCommerce effectively, explaining that
users need only implement one procurement
model to encompass the majority of their
key oil field suppliers. The portal points
out that its service and supply company
members include Baker Hughes, Halliburton,
Schlumberger, Select Energy Services, Total
Safety and Weatherford International.
Operators who sign the OFS Portal
EDA benefit from preservation of data
ownership, confidentiality, and reliability
of transactions between themselves and
OFS Portal members, the portal says.

Wireless Seismic Debuts Next-Generation System
SUGAR LAND, TX.-Wireless Seismic Inc. has launched RT3, which it describes as an ultrahigh channel count,
onshore seismic recording system featuring
next-generation radio technology.
RT3 addresses the growing market
need to acquire much denser onshore
seismic surveys, WSI reports. Unlike
blind nodal systems, WSI says, RT3
allows the user to manage an entire
spread of 250,000 recording channels
interactively in real time. For example,
users can put the entire spread to sleep
to preserve battery life with a single
command from the control center.
RT3 eliminates the laborious task of
manually collecting and transcribing
data by deploying a new radio telemetry
architecture that transmits the seismic
data to the central recorder as much as

seven times faster than cabled systems,
WSI says.
"RT3 is game-changing technology
that allows seismic contractors to finally
decommission their old cabled systems
and replace them with a real-time, cable-free system," assesses Mick Lambert,
WSI's president and chief executive officer. "RT3's significantly reduced weight
and cost will make ultrahigh channelcount projects much more cost-effective,
especially for high-density projects outside of open desert terrains."
