Manage Opportunity Sets
HOUSTON-Rose & Associates LLP
and 3GiG have released Appra, software
they say provides a robust, secure infrastructure for managing portfolios of
exploration and appraisal plays,
prospects, and projects.
According to the companies, Appra
implements rigorous version control of
risk and resource assessments as opportunities mature. Rose and 3GiG say the
software provides visibility into the status
and progression of each opportunity, allowing users to benchmark and report on
the length of time an opportunity has
spent in a given stage, making it easier
for leaders to intervene when necessary.
The companies add that the software has
out-of-the-box integration with Rose's
suite of upstream risk analysis tools.

difficulty keeping track of the constant
changes and various versions of their
data floating around the organization.

Emerson Enhances Suite For Managing Reservoirs
STAVANGER, NORWAY-Roxar Tempest™ 8.2, the latest version of Emerson's
reservoir management software, offers
advanced uncertainty analysis tools, increased support for the Big Loop™ workflow, and robust risk analysis and reserves
estimates across the seismic-to-simulation
workflow, Emerson reports.
Emerson describes Big Loop as the
cornerstone of its reservoir characterization
and modeling process, noting that it propagates reservoir uncertainties from seismic
characterization through to geological
modeling and simulation. For example,
reservoir uncertainties are captured and
varied to create an ensemble of reservoir
models that feed into the reservoir simulator. According to the company, this
leads to a better understanding of the
reservoir geometry, more robust reserve
estimates, and better-informed decisions
about field development.
Enhancements to the Big Loop work-

flow within Tempest ENABLE, Emerson's
uncertainty management and history
matching module, center on greater connectivity to other IT ecosystems, the company outlines. Emerson says this leads to
greater integration between geology and
engineering, simpler workflow setup, and
improved risk and uncertainty analysis.
To that end, the system now supports the
Nexus and CMG simulators and several
cluster queueing systems, such as LSF,
PBS and UGE, Emerson reports.
Tempest MORE 8.2, the reservoir simulator, now handles gas liquid recovery
plants, enabling users to calculate liquid
petroleum gas and natural gas liquids
production, Emerson continues. 8.2 also
enhances modelling of the physical
processes for near-wellbore flow and for
multiple simultaneous fluid types, the
company reports.

Fairfield Geotechnologies is the successor to FairfieldNodal, a pioneer of
ocean bottom seismic acquisition services
that changed its name June 28 to reflect
a broader focus. The company says it
has embarked on an aggressive program
to grow its capabilities through mergers
and acquisitions, as well as strategic partnerships. For example, it acquired Geokinetics Inc.'s U.S. multiclient data library
in April, which Fairfield says nearly
tripled its North American multiclient library's coverage from 3,532 square miles
in the Permian Basin to 10,460 square
miles in key U.S. basins, including the
Appalachian and Powder River basins.
