Rotaﬂex® Pumping Unit Offers Greater Reliability
HOUSTON-Weatherford International PLC has commercially released
its latest Rotaflex® long-stroke pumping
unit, which the company says improves
artificial lift efficiency in challenging

applications, including deep, high-volume and high gas-to-liquids wells.
The new design extends the functionality of a field-proven technology
with more than 10,000 installations worldwide, Weatherford reports. The unit's
long pump strokes-as long as 36.5 feet-
allow more time for fluids to enter the
pump intake before being lifted to surface.
By delivering fewer strokes per barrel at
a constant velocity, Weatherford says its
Rotaflex design increases equipment run
life, mitigates downhole failures and decreases deferred production.
The latest Rotaflex adds features to
improve lift efficiency, including a purpose-built 350-series gear reducer and
enhanced top drum, Weatherford reports.
According to the company, the unit also
includes enhancements that improve reliability and maintainability, including
a built-in rollback system, greater accessibility, an enhanced lubrication system and a revised ladder system.

Fairﬁeld's Newest Nodes
Enable Deepwater Survey
HOUSTON-Fairfield Geotechnologies
reports it has completed the Stampede
deepwater ocean bottom node survey.
The field, located in the Green Canyon
area of the Gulf of Mexico, is operated
by Hess Corporation and is in 3,500 feet
of water.
The 148-square mile (238 square kilometer) survey was the second successful
deployment of Fairfield's ZXPLR system,
Fairfield says. The company describes ZXPLR as next-generation ocean bottom node
technology featuring a compact design,
automated back-deck systems, and powered
and piloted subsea node deployment and
retrieval for safe and efficient operations.
Charles Davison Jr., Fairfield's president and chief executive officer, says the
nodes reduced the complexity of conducting seismic operations in a working
oil field. "Ocean bottom nodes are the
only way to achieve the high-quality, repeatable seismic data necessary to develop
complex deepwater reservoirs," he adds.

innovative design can deliver that data
safely and efficiently."

Containment Experts Merge To Enlarge Their Footprint
NEW YORK-Extreme Plastics Plus
(EPP) and Mustang Energy Services report
they have merged to create one of the United
States' largest environmental containment
services companies. The combined company
says it will serve operators across Texas,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania,
West Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and Wyoming.
The company says it offers a variety
of containment services, including environmental liner systems and installations,
aboveground storage tanks, composite
mats, secondary containment systems and
floating covers.
To facilitate the merger, the company
notes, an affiliate of EPP majority investor
Blue Wolf Capital Partners LLC acquired
a majority in Mustang. Todd and Whitney
Creel, Mustang's founders, retain a significant
interest in the combined company.

Shale Support Establishes
Haynesville Sand Terminal
HOUSTON-Shale Support, a provider
of sand and logistical solutions, has established a truck-served terminal in the heart
of the Haynesville Shale. The company
says the Grand Cane, La., logistics hub
boasts 24/7 operations, easy access to highways, and 10,000 tons of on-site storage.
"Acquiring the Grand Cane facility is
a direct result of Shale Support's purchase
of two natural sand mines in Louisiana,"
comments Kevin Bowen, the company's
co-founder and chief executive officer.
"We now have the ability to truck sand
from Kinder and Baywood, La., into
Grand Cane, helping to support growth
in the Haynesville."
