Quite frankly, I am not sure legislators

from to cover some budget gaps."
Proper use of tax revenues and holding
the line on taxes are crucial for Ohio to
remain competitive with other states,
Downey says.
"Some of our member companies are
focused exclusively on drilling in Ohio,
but we also have members with options
to drill in other states. They assess the
cost of capital and potential expenses,
and figure out the best place to put their

dollars. We want Ohio to be that place,"
he states.
Annual Meeting
While OOGA's annual meeting was
in the planning stages in early January,
the focus will be similar to last year,
when the association gave attendees options to choose among concurrent sessions,
Hammond says.
"One of the things we really want to
focus on this year is having a technically
driven agenda," he says. "There are lots
of things happening in Ohio from a tech-

nical standpoint, whether it be conventional
or unconventional resource development."
The convention begins Wednesday,
March 6, with a Board of Trustees meeting,
followed by a corporate reception for
members in the evening. A full day Thursday and half day Friday will offer a
variety of technical, legal and legislative
sessions and speakers, Hammond says.
"The annual meeting is an opportunity
for members to interact with other operators, service companies and professionals," Downey says. "We expect a great
turnout."
