of the educational outreach that brings
the petroleum industry to classrooms
across the state, says AIPRO Communications Director Anna Swaim. That will
include a presentation for Teacher of the
Year from the Arkansas Energy Rocks
program, she adds.
"We instituted this a couple of years
ago to recognize excellence in the classroom
for Arkansas educators who really go the
extra mile to promote oil and natural gas
with their students through hands-on activities in their classrooms," Swaim says.
"That has been a really successful program
to provide recognition for teachers."
The program continues to conduct
workshops around the state, including in
June of this year in Magnolia, in addition
to previous workshops conducted in
energy producing regions around Fort
Smith and Conway, Baker details.
"In addition to the recognition and
trophy that come with this, the teacher
receives a $1,000 award to use for classroom materials," he mentions. "We are
very proud of that program and are very
excited that we can recognize a teacher
for excellence."
The Arkansas Energy Rocks K-12 activities and lesson plans help students
become more familiar with oil and gas op-

erations, and the workshop provides teachers
with a firsthand look at industry professionals
at work, Walt says. During this year's South
Arkansas workshop, teachers enjoyed oneon-one interaction with a geologist on a
Mission Creek drilling site, he recalls.
"They were really impressed with her
explanations of how she got into her side
of the industry and about the opportunities
for young men and women," Walt says.
"In my opinion, Arkansas Energy Rocks

is a home run for our industry, our members and the citizens of the state. It gives
teachers the raw materials to instruct
their students and see how much economic
value there is in the oil and gas and the
energy industry. It can prepare them for
many different careers. When we have
our teacher workshops, that is teachers'
number one question. These teachers are
gold in Arkansas and they want to know
how their kids can succeed."

FERC Accepts Application
For An LNG Export Facility

HOUSTON-The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has formally accepted
Commonwealth Projects LLC's filing application to construct an 8.4 million tonnes
per year natural gas liquefaction facility
on the west side of the Calcasieu Ship
Channel, the company announces.
Commonwealth says the proposed facility would consist of six gas liquefaction
trains each capable of producing 1.4 MTPA,
six liquefied natural gas storage tanks with
a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters each,
one marine loading berth capable of loading
LNG carriers with capacities up to 216,000
cubic meters, and a 30-inch pipeline.
"FERC's formal acceptance of Commonwealth LNG project's filing application
marks another significant milestone achieved
by the Commonwealth team, and represents
an important step in progressing the project
and moving closer to a final investment
decision," says Commonwealth President
and Chief Executive Officer Paul Varello.
Commonwealth says it remains on
schedule to commence operating the facility in first quarter 2024.
