Watford City To Host NDPC Meeting
North Dakota Petroleum Council
BISMARCK, N.D.-The North Dakota
Petroleum Council plans to host its 2021
annual meeting in a city that has seen its
share of oil and natural gas producers. The
event is scheduled for Sept 21-23 at the
Rough Rider Center in Watford City, N.D.
" NDPC is excited to bring industry leaders
together in a community that is heavily
impacted by production, " affirms NPDC
President Ron Ness. " The community has
grown substantially in the past several years
and we are ecstatic to show our members
everything Watford City has to offer.
" We are bringing this year's annual
meeting back to the heart of the Bakken,
and with a stellar lineup of speakers, we
are expecting a huge crowd, " he adds.
" Attendees can look forward to hearing
from the Bakken's foremost industry
leaders, networking with more than 300
industry professionals, and learning about
the latest trends in oil and gas.
" The political and economic climate
of the last year have created unique challenges
for the industry, " Ness continues.
" New environmental, safety and governance
standards and policies have created
a demand for innovation to move the industry
forward. This demand led to the
createion of the Clean Sustainable Energy
Authority and other important programs
incentivizing energy innovation in North
Dakota. The annual meeting provides the
perfect platform for attendees to discuss
these and share ideas on how to move
the industry into the future with the
leaders who will make it happen. "
Events are scheduled to begin on Tuesday,
Sept. 21 with check-in and registration
at Watford City's First International Bank,
followed by a social at the bank and
StoneHome Brewing. The night's final
event for convention attendees will be
the " Bet on the Bakken " pub crawl. The
association says all participating locations
are located on Main Street.
According to NDPC, events on the
next day, Wednesday, Sept. 22, will take
place in the Arena at the Rough Rider
Center and will include a morning business
session featuring:
· Opening remarks and a year-in-review
from NDPC Chairman Kathleen
Neset;
· Comments from Mark Fox of the
Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation;
· " Growing the Bakken, " by Daniel
Brown of Oasis Petroleum;
· A video address from Representative
Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D.; and
· " Energy, America, Freedom, " by
former U.S. Secretary of the Interior
Ryan Zinke.
During the chairman's luncheon, NDPC
will induct Larry Dokken into the NDPC
Hall of Fame and honor Brian Grote and
Brian Rosendahl with the association's
Distinguished Industry Leader Award.
The association also will bestow its excellence
in safety, community engagement
and environmental stewardship awards.
Among the sessions scheduled for that
afternoon, NDPC says, are:
· A look at the Bakken Area Skills
Center from Steve Holen, superintendent
of McKenzie County School District
No. 1;
· A discussion of on-site flare mitigation
tax credits, by Ryan Rauschenberger
of the North Dakota Tax Commission;
· Remarks from Jodi Smith, commissioner
of the North Dakota Board of
University and School Trust Lands;
· A clean technical solutions panel
featuring presentations on " ZERO2 Venting
and Flaring Reduction, " by Jason
Roe with EcoVapor Recovery Systems;
and " Valuing Carbon Capture in N.D.
Grasslands, " by Jesse Beckers from North
Dakota Natural Resources Trust.
The evening's events will include the
annual meeting social, dinner and entertainment.
On
the convention's final day, Thursday,
Sept. 23, events will return to the Rough
Rider Center with an agenda that includes
a breakfast buffet and a closing session.
Among the presentations scheduled for
that day are:
· " Grayson Mill Energy in the
Bakken, " by Dewey Gerdom of Grayson
Mill Energy;
· " North Dakota: Our Time is Now, "
from Chris Berg, host of " Point of View; "
· A Bakken update from Lynn Helms
of the North Dakota Department of Mineral
Resources;
· A presentation of the NDPC Public
Servant Award to North Dakota Representative
Craig Headland, R-Montpelier;
· " North Dakota's Investments in the
Energy Future, " a panel moderated by
Senator Dale Patten, R-Watford City, and
featuring presentations from North Dakota
Lieutenant Governor Brent Sanford, who
will discuss clean and sustainable energy,
and John Harju of the University of North
Dakota's Energy & Environmental Research
Center, who will discuss carbon
management, enhanced oil recovery, and
Bakken optimization; and
· " MineralTracker, " by Joel Brown
with First International Bank and Trust.
The meeting will adjourn late that
morning with Ness' closing remarks.

a considerable offering of technical presentations, the North Dakota Petroleum Council's
2021 Annual Meeting offers numerous attractions. Events on the conference's second and
third days will be at Watford City's Rough Rider Center and will feature NDPC Hall of Fame
inductions and other awards recognitions.
