SPM QEM 5000 Frac Pump Reduces Emissions, Costs
FORT WORTH-SPM Oil & Gas Inc.,
part of Caterpillar, relates that its SPM
Quintuplex Extended Max (QEM) 5000
electric hydraulic fracturing pump is reducing
environmental impacts and yielding
cost savings in the Permian Basin and
Haynesville, Eagle Ford and Marcellus
shales. According to the company, the
SPM QEM 5000 is the only true continuous
duty, electric or gas turbine-capable,
5,000-horsepower pump operating at full
capacity in the field.
The SPM QEM 5000 is designed from
the ground up for electric or gas turbine
and 5,000-horsepower capacity in a single
unit, SPM says. The company adds that
the pump is rated for service at 100% of
its 308,000-pound rod load capacity, 24

hours a day, seven days a week.
At rated speeds, the SPM QEM 5000
consistently has produced more than 20
barrels a minute for long and repeated
stages, approximately 30% higher than
other pumps, SPM continues. Reporting
that the pump shows no sign of wear at
the 1,000-hour teardown and continues
performing like new afterward, SPM
says it has been engineered to reduce
maintenance.

LAGCOE has appointed Sara
Bourque its executive director and promoted
Fumy Rita to director of operations
and international affairs.
Bourque has spent the past several
years as communication and professional
development director for the REALTOR®
Association of Acadiana, a role that involved
handling all public relations, marketing
and events for the association, as
well as implementing a variety of highlevel
continuing education programs. A
Louisiana native, Bourque graduated from
the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
with a B.A. in mass communication.
Rita joined LAGCOE in 2019 as a
programs coordinator and helped implement
the Energy Leadership Program,
revamp the Young Professionals of LAGCOE
and strengthen LAGCOE's educational
efforts. Rita was born in Moscow
and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. She
holds an M.S. in international communications
and an M.A. in Francophone
studies from the University of Louisiana
at Lafayette.

Bowden previously served as senior
