Energy Transfer Finalizes
Buy Of Enable Midstream
DALLAS-Energy Transfer LP and
Enable Midstream Partners LP have
completed their previously announced
merger. The terms of agreement were
approved in 2021 Enable's two largest
unitholders, CenterPoint Energy Inc.
and OGE Energy Corp., which together
owned approximately 79% of Enable's
outstanding common units.
According to Energy Transfer, the
company now owns and operates more
than 114,000 miles of pipelines and
related assets in all major U.S.
producing regions and markets across
41 states. The completion of the
transaction is immediately accretive to
Energy Transfer and furthers Energy
Transfer's deleveraging effort while
adding significant fee-based cash
flows from fixed-fee contracts.
Additionally, Energy Transfer says,
the two companies' combined
operations is expected to generate
annual run-rate cost and efficiency
synergies of more than $100 million,
excluding potential financial and
commercial synergies.
The acquisition strengthens Energy
Transfer's midstream and gas
transportation systems by adding
Enable's natural gas gathering and
processing assets in the Anadarko
Basin in Oklahoma, along with
intrastate and interstate pipelines in
Oklahoma and surrounding states. It
also boosts Energy Transfer's gas
gathering and processing assets in the
Arkoma Basin across Oklahoma and
Arkansas, as well as in the
Haynesville Shale in East Texas and
North Louisiana. ❒
Hamm, Continental Gifts
Launch Institute At OSU
Focusing On U.S. Energy
OKLAHOMA CITY-The Domestic
Energy Producers Alliance reports that
the Harold Hamm Foundation and
Continental Resources Inc. are
bestowing a $50 million gift to
Oklahoma State University to create the
Hamm Institute for American Energy to
educate future energy leaders.
" The generous gifts from Harold
Hamm and Continental Resources to
establish the Hamm Institute for
22 THE AMERICAN OIL & GAS REPORTER
American Energy will have a
transformative impact on OSU and the
energy sector worldwide. With a stateof-the
art lab featuring wells drilled
below the building, an auditorium,
and classrooms, this building is fit for
purpose, " says OSU President Kayse
Shrum. " Mr. Hamm's and
Continental's generosity will bring
together the brightest minds and
future energy sector leaders from
around the world, all with a goal of
solving one of society's most pressing
concerns. Together, we will change
the trajectory of energy security in the
United States. "
According to DEPA, the initial
funding for the institute and project
will be a pair of $25 million gifts from
the Harold Hamm Foundation and
Continental. The Hamm Institute will
be located in what was formerly
known as OSU Discovery in
Oklahoma City's Innovation District
and will become the building's
primary and permanent occupant.
The Hamm Institute, DEPA
describes, aims to be a hub for all
matters pertaining to American energy,
and the facility will host symposia,
authors, speakers, energy summits and
global energy leadership
conversations. The building eventually
will house the Oklahoma Hall of
Energy Legends Interactive Museum,
as well as a public exhibit highlighting
the history and legacy of Oklahoma
energy leaders.
" It's time, once again, for
Oklahoma to become a global energy
leader, " Hamm states. " It's my hope
the world will look to us for the best
ideas when it comes to energy
stewardship, research and education.
This gift is about investing in our
shared future-the future of our country
and the state and people I love.
" I see the institute as a game
changer-a place where the best and the
brightest will come together to
responsibly solve the world's energy
challenges, " he continues. " A third of
the world lives in energy poverty. We
need to fix that. And we need to make
sure Americans will always have an
abundance of reliable, affordable energy
for generations to come. "
" The Hamm Institute belongs here
in Oklahoma, " says Continental Chief
Executive Officer Bill Berry. " It is part
of the Continental mission to find,
nurture and inspire the next generation
of energy leaders. We envision the
Hamm Institute for American Energy
to be the epicenter of learning,
research and energy innovation for
decades to come. " ❒
