Texas LNG A Way To Cut Emissions
AUSTIN, TX.-A white paper by Texans
for Natural Gas, a project of the
Texas Independent Producers and Royalty
Owners Association, makes a case for
how liquefied natural gas is the key to a
sustainable and reliable global energy future.
According
to TIPRO, LNG will reduce
air pollution in India, power ever-growing
cities such as Beijing and keep the lights
on in developing regions across the world.
Texas opens the door to these possibilities,
producing natural gas at record-breaking
rates and delivering it across the globe
through the LNG export terminals spanning
its coast.
The white paper, " Texas LNG: Poised
to Meet the World's Energy and Climate
Needs, " explains how the natural gas produced
in the Lone Star State is being
used to transform global energy markets,
increasing reliability and energy access,
while helping slash global air pollution.
In addition, TIPRO says, the white paper
provides a primer on what LNG is and
how it's regulated, LNG's history in the
United States and breaks down the market
and future of U.S. LNG, particularly
along the Gulf Coast and in Texas.
" Texas remains the leading producer
of natural gas in the United States and is
helping to change the world by providing
access to this foundational fuel source to
meet growing energy demands, " reflects
TIPRO President Ed Longanecker. " By
embracing Texas LNG, countries around
the world are choosing a cleaner, more
efficient, more sustainable energy source
to power their economies and heat their
homes. This report demonstrates the
progress this industry has made in recent
years and makes the case for the key role
Texas natural gas will play for generations
to come. "
TIPRO highlights several key facts
about the report, including:
· The United States' status as a leading
energy exporter, with the United
States becoming the world's third-largest
LNG exporter in 2019, and U.S. Energy
Information Administration forecast that
the country will become the world's
largest LNG exporter in 2022;
· The tenfold increase demonstrated
by U.S. LNG capacity growth, from negligible
in 2015 to 10.8 billion cubic feet
a day in 2020;
· The major role Texas plays in the
success of U.S. LNG, with Texas singlehandedly
accounting for roughly a quarter
of U.S. natural gas production, while
more than 85% of the additional planned
U.S. LNG export capacity will be located
in the Gulf of Mexico and supplied largely
by Texas natural gas;
· U.S. LNG's superior emissions profile
compared with coal when used for
power generation in countries such as
China, India and Germany;
· A U.S. flaring intensity that is 143%
lower than that of Russia, which also has
a flaring intensity that is 239% worse
than that of the Permian Basin;
· Natural gas and renewables should
combine to make up nearly three-quarters
of total world energy growth by 2040; and
· Natural gas's ability to provide a
reliable backup energy supply that can
be ramped up or down quickly, regardless
of time or circumstances.

Dominates Oklahoma Inc. List
OKLAHOMA CITY-In another sign
of the industry's resurgence, one year
after energy companies accounted for
only four of 10 positions, energy-related
companies occupied eight of the top 10
spots in the 25th annual Oklahoma Inc.
rankings, released by The Oklahoman in
January.
Leading the way at number one was
Continental Resources Inc., which was
joined on the list by other producers in
second-ranked Laredo Petroleum Inc. and
fifth-ranked Devon Energy Corp. Midstream
firms ONEOK and the Williams
Companies were third and seventh, respectively.
Other top 10 outfits with
energy links include OG&E Energy Corp.,
with subsidiary midstream assets; Alliance
Resource Partners, which has oil and gas
mineral interests alongside its coal production;
and Blueknight Energy Partners,
which specializes in gathering, storing
and distributing asphalt.
The Oklahoman, the largest daily newspaper
for the Oklahoma City metropolitan
area, says it works with Standard &
Poor's Capital IQ to compile statistics
on the state's public companies and evaluate
their profitable growth. The information
is compiled for each company's
two most recent fiscal years, The Oklahoman
details. The newspaper then calculates
growth according to the rate of
revenue growth, profitability according
to percentage change in earnings per
share, and shareholder returns, including
share price and dividends.
" This year's Oklahoma Inc. analysis
of publicly traded companies shows clear
markers of the coronavirus pandemic's
effect on the economy, " writes Dale Denwalt
for the publication. " Specifically,
according to experts, it shows how energy
companies have rebounded since the lockdowns
a year ago throttled transportation
and fuel use. "
Denwalt cites Longbow Asset Management
Chief Executive Officer Jake
Dollarhide, who says " Energy didn't stand
a chance to be among the leaders (last
year). " He notes that human capital management
software firm Paycom topped
the 2020 Oklahoma Inc., but slipped to
17 in 2021.
" It just goes to show you that tech
took a backseat to energy this year, " Dollarhide
is quoted.
Regarding its top ranked company for
the year, Oklahoman writer Mike Coppock
points out Continental topped Oklahoma
companies " in earnings over the past year
with a remarkable 625% increase in earnings
per share. " He adds that " the energy
giant also had a 117.8% increase in total
returns for the past year with an 18.6%
increase in revenues. "
Second-ranked Laredo had a total oneyear
return of 569% with a 29.9% increase
in revenue over 2020, Coppick notes,
and a 39.4% return per share improvement
over last year.
Fifth-ranked Devon enjoyed 17.2%
year-over-year revenue growth, along with
a 174.5% jump in one-year total returns,
reports Oklahoman writer Jordan Green.
" Devon jumped to fifth place in this year's
rankings-up from 21st place in 2020-
