military in 1976, Robinson began working
as an equipment operator for Dowell, a
division of the Dow Chemical Company,
in Mt. Carmel, Il. During the next four
years, he became proficient operating all
acidizing, cementing and hydraulic fracturing
equipment.
In 1980, Robinson was promoted to
field supervisor, a position in which he
worked until 1986. In 1984, Schlumberger
began its acquisition of Dowell, a purchase
that was complete by 1986. Based on his
outstanding performance as a field supervisor,
Robinson was selected to participate
in Schlumberger's field engineering
training program in Tulsa. He attended
the field engineering program from 1986
to 1988, and upon completion, continued
work as a field engineer and supervisor
until 1990.
In 1990, he was promoted to sales
manager, a position he held until he was
promoted to field service manager in
1996. When Schlumberger closed the
Mt. Carmel facility in 1999, Robinson
was offered a transfer, but he opted to resign
his employment with Schlumberger
after 24 years.
In January 2000, he started work for
Citizens Gas Resource Development
Corp., developing horizontal drilling and
jetting with a coiled tubing unit. In 2002,
he joined Franklin Well Services Inc. as
sales and technical manager, a job in
which he continues to this day.
Along with his membership in INOGA,
Robinson also is a member of the Kentucky
Oil & Gas Association, the Illinois
Oil & Gas Association, and the Society
of Petroleum Engineers.
He also worked as a technical adviser
to INOGA from 2003 through 2008.
John T. Girot
John Thomas Girot's father, Delmar,
was a longtime oil field expert who
made sure his son knew the oil and gas
industry, and so young John accompanied
his father to job sites and not only
learned about the business, but how to
communicate with and educate inexperienced
oil field workers.
Girot graduated from Carmi High
School in 1976 and enrolled at Southeastern
Illinois College in 1976, but by
1978, he decided to leave college and get
a job in the oil patch at Baker Oil Tools,
where he got to work with Delmar. The
younger Girot advanced as a downhole
supervisor, and by 1983, was promoted
to district manager, managing daily operations
and training field employees.
Soon he got a job with Baker Hughes
and went to Michigan, and then Seminole,
Ok., as Baker's Mid-Continent manager.
His stint with Baker, which ended in
2001, also took him to Kentucky, where
he became a well-known expert.
As a people person, Girot views his
oil field peers as companions and partners
in the industry. Like his father, he instills
confidence in those he works alongside
and has a knack for seeing what is down
hole without visually seeing it, which
constitutes an expert in the oil and gas
industry.
Girot joined Armstrong in 2001 as a
sales manager serving the Illinois Basin
until 2017. Since 2017, he has worked
as a sales manager at Warren Service
Co. Along with his INOGA membership,
he also is a member of IOGA, Independent
Oil Producers, Tri-State, and
SPE. As an INOGA member, he has devoted
countless hours to smoking pork
chops at the association's annual scholarship
picnic and golf outing. His many
accolades include IOGA's 2012 Service
Person of the Year, an honor that also
was once awarded to his father. He also
was chosen for the Tri-State Desk &
Derrick Energy Industry Appreciation
Award for his generous service.

Durability Of Demand Surprises IEA
PARIS-A new wave of the coronavirus
pandemic has thus far failed to curb
energy consumption as predicted, and so
the International Energy Agency is hiking
its global demand projections.
Although Covid-19 infections have
spread, IEA's January Oil Market Report
acknowledges, statistics indicate world
energy demand is hardly bedridden.
" While the number of Omicron cases
is surging worldwide, oil demand defied
expectations in the fourth quarter of
2021, rising by 1.1 million barrels a
day to 99 MMbbl/d, " IEA reports.
It goes on to note that first quarter demand
is set for a seasonal decline, which it
predicts will be exacerbated by trends
toward increased teleworking and less air
travel, but the overall demand picture still
will be larger than expected. " We have
raised our global demand estimates by 200
kb/d for 2021 and 2022-resulting in growth
of 5.5 MMbbl/d and 3.3 MMbbl/d, respectively-due
to softer Covid restrictions. "
Regarding world oil supply, IEA cites
the potential for a Saudi-driven gain of
6.2 MMbbl/d if OPEC+ production cuts
fully unwind. It goes on to say " Oil
output from OPEC+ could rise this year
by 4.4 MMbbl/d, resulting in reduced effective
spare capacity in the second half
of 2022 of 2.6 MMbbl/d, held primarily
by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab
Emirates. Non-OPEC+ growth of 1.8
MMbbl/d in 2022 will be led by the
United States. "
According to the report, global refining
ended 2021 on a high note, with both
runs and margins improving. " Refinery
throughputs averaged 79.8 MMbbl/d in
4Q21, up 4.6 MMbbl/d on a year ago, " it
relates. " In 2021, global refining capacity
fell for the first time in 30 years, by
730,000 bbl/d, as new capacity was outweighed
by closures. In 2022, net additions
are expected to amount to 1.2 MMbbl/d,
with runs forecast to gain 3.7 MMbbl/d.
Among countries in the Organization
of Economic Cooperation and Development,
total industry stocks declined 6.1
million barrels in November, " as rising
crude and gasoline stocks were more
than offset by draws in other products, "
IEA reports, adding that " stocks were
down 354 MMbbl on a year ago and at
their lowest level in seven years. Preliminary
data for December show OECD industry
stocks falling by another 45 MMbbl
while volumes of oil on the water rose. "
Demand uncertainties shook crude
prices in December, before a vigorous
post-holiday rebound, IEA observes, noting
that North Sea Dated crude rose from
an average $74.01/bbl the previous month
to $87.30/bbl on Jan. 18, its highest level
since 2014. Moreover, it adds, " ICE Brent
backwardation doubled, reflecting tight
oil stocks. "

MVP Pipeline Holdings
Expand To Midland Basin
HOUSTON-MVP Holdings LLC has
acquired Echo Canyon Pipeline Holdings
LLC and its subsidiaries to substantially
expand Echo's crude business in the
southern Midland Basin of West Texas.
According to MVP, Echo operates 190
miles of crude gathering pipeline located
in Texas' Upton, Reagan, Glasscock,
Irion and Crocket counties. It also owns
additional truck unloading facilities, shell
storage capacity and multiple connections
to major crude oil off-take pipelines.
" The Echo Canyon acquisition continues
our vision to grow MVP's footprint in
Texas and become the preferred midstream
and marketing partner for oil and gas producers
throughout the United States, " says
MVP President Gary Navarro.
