World Petroleum Council
Begins Diversity Survey
LONDON-Boston Consulting Group
and the World Petroleum Council have
launched the third edition of the Untapped
Reserves survey, which they describe as
the only recurring global study on diversity,
equity and inclusion (DE&I) in
the energy industry.
According to the organizations, Untapped
Reserves 3.0 will build on the findings and
outcomes of the previous two reports,
which were released in 2017 and 2021
based on substantial proprietary research.
For example, Untapped Reserves 2.0 drew
on surveys from more than 2,800 employees
across 60 countries, along with more than
50 interviews with senior executives and
other industry professionals. In addition,
PEOPLE
and release management teams in close
partnership with the company's engineering
team.
With more than 30 years of experience,
James joins W Energy from Bluware,
where he led the commercialization of
energy-related deep learning solutions
and cloud technologies. Before Bluware,
James held leadership positions at IHS
Markit and Haliburton.

DANOS
CALLAHAN
Danos, a 76-year-old energy services
company headquartered in Gray, La.,
has formed Danos Ventures to diversify
its portfolio through strategic acquisitions.
The new entity will be led by thirdgeneration
owner and Chief Executive
Officer Eric Danos, as well as James
Callahan, who has become the company's
first vice president of acquisitions.
Callahan's past roles at Danos include
vice president of finance and
later vice president of project services.
He has been with the company since
2013. In his new position at Danos
Ventures, Callahan will help assess potential
acquisitions, make recommendations
to ownership, negotiate with
sellers, lead due diligence and operate
any acquired entities.

W Energy Software has named
Andy James its chief product officer.
He will lead the product management,
domain, functional architecture, UI/UX
Matador Resources Co. has promoted
Brian J. Willey to chief financial officer,
president of midstream operations and
executive vice president. He will continue
to serve as president of San Mateo
Midstream LLC, Matador's midstream
joint venture.
Since joining Matador in February
2014 as its deputy general counsel,
Willey has taken on increasing responsibilities,
serving most recently as president
and general counsel of midstream
operations and executive vice president.
Before joining the company, he was a
senior associate in the Dallas office of
Baker Botts LLP, where his practice focused
on corporate matters such as mergers
and acquisitions, securities offerings,
venture capital transactions, SEC compliance
and corporate governance. ❒
AMANDA
VEAZEY
The Well Done Foundation, a nonprofit
that plugs orphaned or abandoned wells,
has appointed Amanda Veazey as its
vice president of East Coast operations.
She will oversee the organization's activities
in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York
and Louisiana.
Veazey comes to the foundation after
15 years as an environmental geology
adviser and geologist for Seneca Resources
Co. LLC. Before that, she was a consultant
in Houston with Four Star Environmental
and ERM, where she advised clients on
environmental regulatory compliance. ❒
Intelligent Wellhead Systems Inc., has
named Shiblee Hashem as its vice president
of operations.
Hashem has more than 25 years of oil
and gas consulting and operations management
experience in both upstream and
downstream services. Throughout his career,
he has worked closely with some of
the largest independents and national oil
companies in Europe, the Middle East,
Asia, North and South America, and
North, East and West Africa. Before
joining IWS, he held senior management
positions with AccessESP (a Baker Hughes
company) and Halliburton.

data was analyzed from 50 international
oil companies, national oil companies and
service providers that represent about 14%
of global employment in the sector.
Noting that the previous two studies
showed women made up less than a
quarter of employees, BCG and WPC
say companies must take urgent action
to boost diversity among their employees
if they want to thrive in a data-driven,
low carbon world that requires constant
innovation. Specific challenges identified
within the energy sector included underrepresentation
of women in entry-level
jobs, lack of representation in technical
and operational roles and expatriate positions,
slow updates to existing DE&I
policies, persistent unconscious biases
around gender-related challenges and low
female representation in senior roles.
On the bright side, the number of
companies implementing DE&I policies
and programs went up about 50% between
the 2017 and 2021 surveys, BCG and
WPC recount. The organizations say this
positive shift should be reflected in future
data collected by this survey.
Untapped Reserves 3.0 will increase
the project's reach to include data from
power, utilities and new energy companies,
and for the first time will pose detailed
questions around other diversity dimensions
(such as race/ethnicity, disabilities
and economic background).
The full report will be launched at
the World Petroleum Congress in Calgary
in September 2023. The individual
