Welcome to Odessa/Midland
If you are a regular attendee of the oil show, you already know about the multitude of opportunities for
fun and enjoyment in the surrounding community. The Midland-Odessa region is a vibrant and energetic
region where great restaurants, exciting nightlife, unique cultural amenities and fun converge under an
endless West Texas sky.
A visit to the community can put you in the cockpit of a World War II fighter plane, in the heart of the
second largest meteor crater in the nation or on a pristine fairway plotting your approach to the 18th
green.
To help you make the most of your time in the " Petroplex, " we have provided an array of entertainment
opportunities to consider while you are here.
The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, Library and Hall of Fame
Located at 1500 W. Interstate 20, on Midland's southern edge, the petroleum museum has great exhibits
that tell the story of our industry's rich history. It is also home to the Chaparral Gallery, which features the
revolutionary race car designs of Midland native Jim Hall.
Golf
Located at 3600 N. Fairgrounds Blvd. in Midland, Hogan Park Golf Course has earned a well-deserved
reputation for its smooth fairways and greens. The 18-hole course is perfect for all levels, testing players'
skill with long fairways, multiple water hazards and strategically placed sand traps.
The Museum of the Southwest
Located at 1705 W. Missouri Ave. in Midland, the museum inspires discovery, interaction and exploration
of art, science, culture and history, enriching the lives of people of all ages. Founded in 1965, the Museum
of the Southwest has been serving the Midland community for more than 50 years.
Odessa Meteor Crater Visitor Center
The center is located five miles west of Odessa, off of Interstate 20. Take exit 108 and go south two miles
on Meteor Crater Road. The crater is the largest of several smaller craters in the immediate area. It was
created when a huge meteor composed of nickel and iron slammed into the earth in prehistoric times. The
natural landmark is among the largest impact craters in the country.
The Commemorative Air Force Museum
At 9600 Wright Dr., near the Midland International Airport, the museum has a fascinating collection that
includes beautifully restored aircraft, World War II memorabilia and other historic treasures that embody
our nation's rich aviation history.
Stonehenge Replica
You no longer have to visit Great Britain to see Stonehenge. Just drive over to the northeast side of the
University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and visit the life-size replica a group of local history enthusiasts
created back in 2002. About 20 stone blocks modeled after the ancient megalith in Southwest England
were placed on carefully laid foundations. The university is at 4901 East University in Odessa.

The Permian Basin has a lot to offer the hungry visitor, from hearty Texas barbecue to refined European
fare. We are especially well stocked with Mexican cuisine.
Midland and Odessa also offer many lively nightspots and high-quality movie theaters. We encourage
