Unfortunately, it ended poorly for me-CFIT into the canyon rim as I tried
to get that darn gate.
Interestingly enough, after taking off the VR helmet, I was a little unsteady
and it took a few moments to stop feeling woozy. Guess I'm not made out
to be a fighter pilot. That's probably a good thing. But that VR sim was a
lot of fun too and there was a line of people every day waiting to hop in it
and experience flight. Pretty cool stuff and something for us to remember
as flight instructors-it's not all about the maneuvers, the ACS, and the
checkride. It's about the fun of flying too. That's one of the reasons I got into
flying and it's probably one of yours too.
I know I'm not going to be a fighter pilot for any number of reasons, but
maybe one of the many youths that came through the sims will be inspired
to pursue flight training. Maybe another will be more interested in building
a better VR program or working on designing a new airplane. As flight
instructors we teach people to fly, but more than that we put them in touch
with a whole world of possibilities in aviation and aerospace.
We have a pretty cool job, don't we?

and found a solution and survived; and a bronze for Reality Check: What
are the Costliest Insurance Claims?, which looks at the types of claims
that can drive up insurance rates and provides tips on how pilots can be
part of the solution to reducing the cost of aviation insurance.
The awards " are the largest and most prestigious program recognizing
excellence and leadership in association media, publishing, marketing and
communication, " among nonprofit and for-profit associations, according
to Association Media and Publishing parent organization, Software
& Information Industry Association. The association recognized 240
finalists across 82 categories in the peer-reviewed awards program.
