CFI OR STUDENT-WHO IS LIABLE FOR DAMAGE?
During dual instruction, who'd be held liable if damage
occurred to the airplane or the airport? Liability usually
follows whoever was the pilot in command (PIC).
However, there is generally an important caveat to PIC,
and that is for students. Being pre-solo signifies that the
CFI is the PIC. Learn more.
AD DATABASES MOVED TO NEW FAA SYSTEM
As of August 16, the FAA has moved its airworthiness
directives and emergency airworthiness directives
databases to its new Dynamic Regulatory System (DRS).

AOPA RELEASES ANNUAL WEATHER SURVEY DATA
The 2022 Weather Survey from AOPA was published
on July 15. The sixth of its kind, this weather survey
investigates how pilots access and use weather

NAV CANADA DELAYS ADS-B MANDATE
In response to concerns voiced by AOPA and other
stakeholders, Nav Canada announced it is delaying its
1090ES ADS-B Out equipage mandate effective date. The
new mandate effective dates are August 10, 2023, for Class A
airspace and May 16, 2024, for Class B airspace. Learn more.
CIVIL AIR PATROL GETS SIRIUSXM ACROSS FLEET
A new partnership between SiriusXM and the Civil Air Patrol
will provide valuable weather information to CAP pilots who
fly important and time-sensitive missions. Learn more.
