THE TAKEOFF/GO AROUND LEVER (below) is part of the Garmin GFC 500 digital autopilot; on the ground, it sets up the takeoff attitude on the flight director; in flight, the pilot can engage the go-around feature and it will couple with the navigation unit to fly a missed approach. An optional third seat (right) lets a student pilot observe while sharpening radio skills. The interior (bottom) is plain but also sturdy, meant to withstand the punishment of flight training. The glass panel includes a Garmin G3X Touch (far right); an iPad can be mounted on the right side to provide even greater situational awareness (bottom right). 54 | AOPA PILOT December 2019
