THE DOCK at the Hydravion seaplane base bustles with float aircraft-the largest of which is a de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver that operates on skis during the winter and floats the rest of the year. The company's Cessna 206 ferries people and supplies to remote lodges (facing page) that have little or no road access. Company founder and chief pilot Alain Priem and wife Laure Loupias emigrated to Canada from their native France, and French seaplane pilots (and student pilots) are frequent customers. 62 | AOPA PILOT April 2020
