New open access journal from the American Psychological Association
will publish innovative research on human-technology interaction
The journal will publish articles in the following areas:
Basic research: How humans understand and use technology, impacts of technology on human

experience and behavior, human-technology interactions as mutually adaptive systems, role of
technology in advancing other areas of scientific research, and related topics.

Foundations of technology design: Development of technologies informed by psychological,

behavioral, and social science research.

Applications: Development, use, and impact of specific technologies in domains such as aging,

education, mental and physical health, recreation, and the workplace.

Broader implications: Evidence-based analyses of ethical, legal, social, and policy questions

concerning the opportunities and challenges arising from human-technology interactions.

From the Editor: "I see this journal as upholding a standard of open access to all data and code required
to replicate all stages of research. Technology, Mind, and Behavior will emphasize transparency and
generalizability. We will encourage data sharing and access to targeted technologies, including programming
code. Our objective is to publish studies with either positive or negative results, including null results and

ABOUT THE EDITOR: Danielle S. McNamara, PhD, is Professor of Psychology
and Director of the Science of Learning and Educational Technology (SoLET)
laboratory at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on cognitive and learning
sciences, reading comprehension, writing, text and learning analytics, natural
language processing, computational linguistics, and intelligent tutoring systems. This
includes the development and assessment of natural language processing tools (e.g.,
Coh-Metrix) and game-based intelligent tutoring systems (e.g., iSTART, Writing Pal).
Her academic background spans from linguistics and clinical psychology to cognitive
science and human-computer interaction.
