Members Who Know Media APMA News Brief Breakdown and How to Find Media Contact Information QUESTION: Can you explain the layout of the APMA News Brief? How is the content selected? ANSWER: By now, you’ve seen the APMA News Brief in your e-mail inbox. This twice-weekly publication gets you up to speed quickly on information directly related to APMA, as well as important, relevant topics from the world of medicine. The News Brief is divided into three main content sections, interspersed with several labeled advertisements that help to create non-dues revenue for the association. Here is a breakdown of the three content sections: 1 2 n 1 NEWS FROM APMA All stories in the first section, “News from APMA,” are written by APMA staff. The information always pertains directly to you as a member, the association, or one of its affiliate organizations. Information about special member events, such as webinars and the Annual Scientific Meeting, appears here. HEALTH CARE IN THE NEWS The second section of the News Brief, “Health Care in the News,” features stories that link directly to mainstream media articles that appeal specifically to podiatrists and other medical professionals. APMA often selects these stories based on topics and issues most important to podiatric medicine, such as those related to federal and state health laws. WHAT YOUR PATIENTS ARE READING “What Your Patients Are Reading” also highlights mainstream media content, but these stories target the consumer public and discuss popular foot-health topics. Stories are selected for inclusion based on the outlet that has published the article, as well as the current popularity of the topic. The media stories listed here may not always correspond with APMA positions or actions, nor are they endorsed by APMA, but they are intended to inform you about the types of stories your patients, family, and colleagues may be reading. n 2 3 n 3 All of the content in these three sections features buttons to e-mail the story to a colleague or share it with your social media network.
