Report from the APMAPAC Chair By Gerald D. Peterson, DPM Season of Giving Spring is here, and signs of change are showing up with the flowers. Many primary elections are over, but a few are still to come. Election fever is mounting, and opportunities to support candidates for office continue to present themselves. Your APMAPAC board is busy sorting through the daily requests for support. We are being very selective, as you would want us to be, so we can elect members to Congress who understand podiatric medicine and our perspective on health care. To do this, however, we need your contributions. Please contribute today to APMAPAC and the APMA Government Education Fund (GEF). The GEF supports efforts to publish materials we send to Congress as well as funding the Legislative Conference, which every year brings APMAPAC coordinators and state association presidents to Washington, DC, to lobby Congress on behalf of our profession. As I mentioned last month, the Legislative Conference was very successful this year in gaining new cosponsors for Title XIX. The conference brought our strong message to the Hill regarding fixing the SGR and repealing IPAB—two very important issues for podiatric medicine. Your state coordinators and their ambassadors are hard at work soliciting contributions to APMAPAC. Please help them by donating today.
