Worthy of Note ‘Finding the Perfect Fit’ at West Point Boot Fit 2012 A group of New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) faculty and students packed up and headed north to the eighth annual West Point Boot Fit at the US Military Academy at West Point for a four-day volunteer trip in early July to properly fit more than 1,200 new cadets with boots for their military training. Volunteers evaluated cadets to ensure their issued boots are specific to their individual foot type to prevent overuse problems and injuries that may arise during training. West Point Boot Fit 2012 was led by Col. Michael Neary, DPM, MBA, chief of the Podiatry Service at Keller Army Community Hospital, and Michael J. Trepal, DPM, NYCPM’s vice president for Academic Affairs and dean. Additional participating faculty included Robert A. Eckles, DPM; Russell G. Volpe, DPM; Susan M. Rice, DPM; Loretta L. Logan, DPM; and Jose Loor, DPM. Student volunteers included Shawn Braunagel, Ari Arash Changizi, Lee Greenberg, Adam Kaplan, Robin Lenz, Adisa Mujkic, Erin Roberson (Class of 2013), and Joseph Bauer, Corey Bess, Terence Yu-Ching Chi, Mina Hanna, Melissa Hurwitz, Pooya Lashkari, Heather Leeb, Jared Menchin, Jessica Olson, Jalpen Patel, and Chelsea Viola (Class of 2014). Fall 2012 CPME Residency Visits: Invitation for Comments The Council on Podiatric Medical Education’s residency approval process includes consideration of third-party comments. The list below identifies all site visits currently scheduled for the fall of 2012. Third-party comments must address substantive matters relating to the quality of the program and CPME standards and requirements and should be addressed to the council director at CPME, 9312 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Comments must be received 30 days prior to the program’s scheduled site visit date. An updated list is maintained on www.cpme.org. All third-party comments must be signed. Comments will be forwarded to the evaluation team, and to the program director for response, if appropriate, during the evaluation visit process.
