Website Wisdom Locate the Latest APMA Seal Products with a Few Clicks on APMA.org How many times have you had patients ask for your professional recommendation on a speciﬁc foot-care or footwear product? While you may have a favorite brand, having a complete database of all podiatrist-approved products is essential to ensuring your patients receive the best treatment. Luckily, this practical database already exists for your use—as the APMA Seal of Acceptance/Approval Program product list on APMA.org. Since the redesigned APMA.org launched, it’s easier than ever for members to navigate the complete list of seal products, which is one of the most frequently visited areas of the website. The APMA Podiatric Seals Committee regularly and judiciously evaluates a variety of footwear and foot-care products and sends its recommendation on speciﬁc products to the APMA Board of Trustees for acceptance or rejection. APMA’s Seals of Acceptance/Approval are awarded to high-quality products that have been found to consistently beneﬁt foot health. After a product ofﬁcially receives the seal, it is added to APMA’s website. It’s important to note that APMA’s seal program is strictly voluntary, and companies must submit their speciﬁc product for the seal committee’s review. Also, the presence or absence of a product on the list does not indicate that comparisons have been made between competitive products. A common misconception is that the APMA seal program is an endorsement of a brand or product. In fact, it is not. As stated above, the APMA seal is a recognition given to products whose quality and effectiveness allow for normal foot function and promote good foot health. The APMA seal section is located in the upper right corner of APMA’s homepage. Here, you have three options: page to view a list of all companies. Clicking on the name of any company will take you to that company’s product page, with a full list of all products with the seal, company contact information, and a link to the company’s website. On the “Products by Category” page, all seal products appear under general product categories for your convenience, The APMA seal section is located in the upper right corner of APMA’s homepage. • • • Visiting the “Seal of Acceptance/Approval Program” landing page Searching for a product by clicking on “Browse by Company” Searching for a product by clicking on “Browse by Type” Clicking on “Find an APMA Seal Product” will bring you to the APMA seal landing page. This page, which can also be found at www.apma.org/seal, contains a general overview of how the APMA seal program functions, as well as a list of frequently asked questions. You will also ﬁnd links near the top of this page to browse products by company and category. On the “Company” page, all companies that currently have products awarded the seal are indexed alphabetically. Browse the listings quickly by clicking a letter at the top of the page to drop to that section, or simply scroll through the 46 APMA News January 2013 such as antifungal/antibacterial treatments and foot creams and moisturizers. Clicking on a category displays a list of products for that speciﬁc category. To browse multiple categories at once, use the “Search by Category” tool displayed on the right side of the page. Each individual listing within a category contains a link to that company’s product page, which can easily be shared with patients or bookmarked for future reference. You will notice some products listed on APMA’s site have an “Rx Required” icon next to them. This symbol indicates that the product is available by prescription only and helps make the seal page a valuable resource for recommending both prescription and over-the-counter products. With just one easy click from APMA’s homepage, you can conﬁdently direct your patients toward an easy-to-navigate list of the latest products in podiatric medicine.
