WHAT APMA IS DOING FOR YOU

new year always brings a sense of opportunity and renewed energy. For the APMA Young Physicians' program, 2018 promises to be a year of growth and progress. As your Young Physician Liaison to the APMA

Board of Trustees, it is my privilege to share some exciting updates with you.
Changes are already underway with the launch of a newly designed APMA.org with additional changes on the
way to the Young Physicians section of the site to highlight some of the great work being done by your colleagues
(www.apma.org/youngphysicians). The Residency Education Resource Center (www.redrc.org) has also been given
a fresh, updated design and continues to add new lectures. Check out both sites if you haven't yet to see what's new.
As a result of the recently completed brand audit, APMA has put a renewed focus on providing support and
resources for early-career practitioners. Your Young Physicians' Leadership Panel (YPLP) and APMA staff are in the process of creating the
"Young Physician Transition Series," consisting of materials specifically created to assist new podiatrists from their first year of residency through
their first decade in practice. These resources are being created by young physicians for young physicians, based on the input received through
an educational needs survey sent to all young physicians. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please let me know.
Here are just a few more of the exciting
things APMA is planning for young
physicians this year:
APMA is hosting a one-day "MIPS and Coding" seminar on Saturday, February 24, just
outside of Washington, DC. The event will
provide in-depth training in MIPS (including
specific information about new reporting
requirements for 2018) as well as a "Coding 101" session. Young physicians and
residents pay a special discounted rate of

APMA IS SOCIAL: ARE YOU?

The APMA House of Delegates meeting,
March 16-19, will include a review of several
proposed bylaws changes. Some of these
changes could serve to further enfranchise

young physicians within APMA's governance
structure. Ask your state component leaders
if they plan on sending a young physician to
the meeting to represent your interests.
The APMA 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting
(The National) will once again be the mustattend meeting for all podiatrists. The program
provides 27.5 CECH and includes multiple
dedicated surgical tracks, while surgery is
included in several other sessions. Young
physicians are well represented within the
educational program faculty and in the poster
abstract symposium. Additionally, the opening session features Rep. Brad Wenstrup,
DPM (R-OH), the first podiatrist to serve in
the US Congress. And if you are a PICA policy
holder, you can save 15 percent on your
premium by attending the risk management

@APMA

program. Residents can attend for free, and
other young physicians pay a significantly
discounted rate. For more information and to

The 2018 Young Physicians' Institute will
take place October 19-21 at a new location near downtown Nashville, TN. This
leadership-focused event is an excellent
opportunity to grow in your professional
life and make new connections with peers.
