Dr. Armstrong First Podiatric Surgeon to Deliver USC Neurosurgery Grand Rounds
David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD,
PhD, professor of Surgery and director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance at
Keck School of Medicine at the
University of Southern California
(USC), became the first podiatric
surgeon to deliver grand rounds for
the university's department of Neurosurgery.
"[Dr. Armstrong] is one of the major recruits to USC
over this past year, and having him here is nothing
short of transformative," said Charles Liu, MD, professor of Neurosurgery and director of the USC Neurorestoration Institute.
"Being able to walk upright is a major part of what
makes us human. Our groups are now working together to
better make that possible. From sensory substitution devices to reconstructive surgery to next-generation implantables and wearables, the future between our teams is literally limitless," Dr. Armstrong said.
Kent State Hall of Fame
Alum Dr. Byron Retires
Tim Byron, DPM, has retired
from the VA Hospital in Nashville,
TN, completing 46 years in the
Federal Service. Dr. Byron is a 1971
graduate of the institution that is
now Kent State University College of
Podiatric Medicine. He was inducted
into the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine Hall of
Fame Society in 2013.
Tim Byron, DPM
Dr. Byron retired from the US
Army Reserves as a lieutenant colonel in 1996 after 25
years in podiatric medicine. He holds the coveted Alpha
Proficiency Designator award from the surgeon general.
Dr. Byron is a fellow of the American College of Foot and
Ankle Surgeons and the American Academy of Podiatric
Sports Medicine, and a diplomate of the American Board
of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a founding member of
the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons.
