The House of Delegates meeting is steeped in tradition, including the presentation of colors during the opening ceremony.
Newly installed President Dennis Frisch, DPM, addressed the
house and shared his hopes that
the profession will move "forward together."
Each year during the House of Delegates meeting, new officers and trustees are elected. This year, the delegates elected:
President-Elect: David G. Edwards, DPM;
Vice President: Seth A. Rubenstein, DPM;
Treasurer: Jeffrey DeSantis, DPM;
Trustee: David B. Alper, DPM;
Speaker of the House: J.D. Ferritto Jr., DPM; and
HOD liaison to the Joint Commission on the Recognition
of Specialty Boards: William Chagares, DPM.

Lawrence A. Santi, DPM, and Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM, were
also re-elected to the Board of Trustees. Dennis R. Frisch, DPM,
was installed as president.
Delegates at the 2018 meeting engaged in a thorough discussion and debate of a comprehensive revision of the APMA
Bylaws. The draft revision was undertaken by the Bylaws and
Procedures Committee over the course of 2017-18 and reflected many of the recommendations of the Governance Review accomplished by independent consultants in 2015-16
and vetted through member surveys and a task force of members in 2016-17.
The committee published its draft well in advance of the
House of Delegates meeting in order to allow delegates and
other members to review the proposed changes and share
their feedback. The committee also held two webinars prior
to the meeting to discuss the proposed revisions.
During the House of Delegates meeting, delegates spent
most of Sunday discussing the proposed changes. Debate on
