Educating the Public about Podiatrists' Surgical Skills

pril is Foot Health Awareness
Month, and as usual, APMA
is marking the national observance with a public education campaign. APMA encourages you to take
advantage of the "Today's Podiatrist" campaign, which will place
a special focus on podiatrists as surgeons this April.
Aimed at informing patients about conditions that may require surgery, April's Foot Health Awareness campaign includes
a dedicated landing page where members can access all materials. Visit www.apma.org/foothealth to find an order form for
a free poster, a customizable patient newsletter, sample social
media posts, a feature article, shareable multimedia, and more.
Visit the campaign page to download tools and resources
for the campaign, and be sure to participate in the campaign
using our hashtag, #OperateLikeaDPM. Simply take a selfie
(or have a colleague snap a picture of you) scrubbing in, in
the OR, or preparing for surgery, then share the photo along
with your story about how your surgical skills benefit patients.
Be sure to tag the post or tweet with #OperateLikeaDPM. Be
careful not to share identifying patient information without
explicit written permission, but feel free to share success stories such as getting a patient back to playing with her grandchildren, or putting an athlete back in the game.
