AZPod Student Wins APMWA Student
Writing Competition-Again!
For the second
year in a row, Ramya
Tadinada, a third-year
student at the Midwestern University Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine, has
been named the winner of the Annual
American Podiatric
Medical Writers Association (APMWA) Student Writing Competition for her paper,
"The Opioid Crisis in
Ramya Tadinada
America: Understanding the Epidemic." Tadinada will receive a $1,000 honorarium from a special endowment by Dr. and Mrs.
Steven Berlin to the APMA Educational Foundation.
Thi Pham, a fourth-year student at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, was awarded second place for
his paper, "Cut the Bread, Not the Bone: Emphasis on Nutrition Education for Both Patient and Provider," and will
receive an honorarium of $750.
Ramez Sakkab, a third-year student at the California
School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University, was awarded third place for her paper, "Lifestyle
Modifications: How Can We Persuade Our Patients, If
We Can't Even Persuade Our Parents?" and will receive
a $500 honorarium.

(ASPMA) promotes, fosters, improves, sustains, and
advances the profession of podiatric medical assisting.
ASPMA's goal is to elevate the standard of education for
podiatric medical assistants. ASPMA works cooperatively

achieve these purposes.

podiatric medical assistant certification examinations (administrative and/or clinical) in two ways:

Assistants have 30 days to complete all seven
sections of the exam from the start date of the
first exam.
Written
Review courses will be provided at the APMA
2019 Annual Scientific Meeting (The National)
in Salt Lake City, July 11-14. The review courses
will be held on July 11, and the administrative
and clinical exams will be given on July 12.

The executive board of the American Association for
Women Podiatrists (AAWP) held a successful strategic
planning meeting in
March. The board
planned for the organization's future
