New Partnership to Enhance
MIPS and Registry Offerings

uring the 2019 Annual Scientific
Meeting, President David G. Edwards, DPM, announced that APMA;
NextGen Healthcare, Inc.; and Darena Solutions are entering a partnership to benefit
APMA members by combining and enhancing
key resources for the Merit-based Incentive
Payment System (MIPS) and clinical data collection.
This partnership will unite the APMA Registry, the APMA MIPS app developed by Darena
Solutions, and the NextGen Office EHR. "The
APMA Registry and MIPS app were designed to
help APMA member podiatrists thrive within
the Merit-based Incentive Payment System," said James R.
Christina, DPM, APMA executive director and CEO. "They allow members to report their data to CMS under MIPS and also
to track and benchmark their MIPS scores throughout the year.
The registry also serves as a critical data repository to help fuel
the practice of evidence-based podiatric medicine and surgery."
APMA members using these tools for the 2018 reporting
year collectively saved more than $1 million. The savings will
increase for performance year 2019, with MIPS-eligible member podiatrists potentially avoiding at least $6,300 in penalties each. "This new partnership will create an unmatched
suite of tools to support our members as they participate in
MIPS and will help APMA collect robust data about the in-

valuable care our members provide," said Dr.
Christina.
The NextGen Office EHR will be integrated
with the APMA Registry and MIPS app, allowing
for convenient, seamless transmission of data
from the EHR to the app and registry for reporting purposes. In light of the upcoming partnership with NextGen Office and its potential to
strengthen the APMA Registry and offer expanded services to members, APMA encourages its
members to consider using NextGen as their
EHR provider.
"Healthy feet are one of the leading indicators
of healthy people, and access to and reporting
of patient data is one of the keys to providing quality care
to patients," said John S. Beck, chief solutions officer and executive vice president for NextGen Healthcare.
"There is a lot of confusion among providers about data collection, analysis, submission, and the audit requirements for
MIPS. This collaboration will ensure that APMA members using
NextGen Office can meet and exceed MIPS requirements with
minimal effort," said Pawan Jindal, MD, founder of Darena
Solutions. "By collaborating with APMA and NextGen, we will
be able to provide a complete solution."

Illinois Podiatric Medical Association Seeks New Leader
The Illinois Podiatric Medical Association (IPMA), in conjunction with the Midwest Podiatry Conference (MPC), has
formed a search committee to select a candidate, firm, or
team to lead our associations.
Those who have the vision, passion, and ability to move the
IPMA and MPC forward are encouraged to apply.
1. Applicants should be prepared to lead a team of professionals who manage the IPMA, one of the largest
state podiatric medical associations, and the Midwest Podiatry Conference, a 13-state regional educational program, one of the premier podiatric medical educational programs in the country.
2. Applicants must have a knowledge of podiatry and
a demonstrated ability to bring people together. They
should be well-versed with the legislative process
and the changing health-care environment.

3. Applicants must be able to communicate complex
issues to practitioners, educators, and legislators.
They must be able to facilitate discussion with members of diverse views and exhibit the highest moral
and ethical standards.
