Report from the APMAPAC Chair

Are You Ready For Some Football?
It's the beginning of the season for football, but did you realize it's also the beginning of the political season? Are you ready
for some political action?
Members of Congress were back in their districts in August.
They are all back to work now, and the politics of the presidential primaries are in full force. Although APMAPAC does
not get involved in the presidential race, APMA's Legislative
Advocacy department monitors and acts on proposed legislation
discussed by presidential candidates as needed.
Imagine our impact if the entire profession became politically active, helping promote and protect our profession. The
political process is complicated, but with a strong team, we
can succeed in achieving our legislative goals.
To strengthen our team, we need to increase our membership participation in political action. When you become a team
member and support APMAPAC, you help APMA fight the bat-

tles on Capitol Hill and make sure we have friends in Congress
who support our priorities. Your support for APMAPAC is
support for candidates who have shown their commitment to
our profession-candidates we need working for our issues
on Capitol Hill.
The Helping Ensure Life- and Limb-Saving Access to Podiatric Physicians (HELLPP) Act has been gaining cosponsors since
it was introduced earlier this year. Is your member of Congress
already a cosponsor? Visit www.apma.org/HELLPPCosponsors
to find out.
What can you do?
1. Use www.apma.org/eAdvocacy to send a prewritten
message to your member of Congress requesting support
for the HELLPP Act.
2. Make a meaningful donation to APMAPAC at www.
apma.org/donate. Contribute with the satisfaction that
you are part of the determining factor in the fate of our
profession.
3. Make an appointment with your representative in
your local district to educate him or her and promote
our profession.
4. Attend or host a fundraiser to support your representative's campaign. This step is a proven effective way to
get involved in political action.
Just as football teams prepare for the season, we need to
prepare for the political season.

Federal election law does not permit corporate contributions to be used for donation
