IT Consultant continued from page 61 to be able to produce valid QRDA III files that you can download/export from your EHR. Note: The QRDA III file from your EHR must be valid in order to submit to CMS for reporting purposes. Note: The APMA MIPS app is supported by the MyMipsScore Qualified Registry. Which Measures Should You Pick? When you are deciding which Quality measures to select/ report, you must remember a few things: 1. You must have a minimum of 20 patients throughout the year who meet the denominator criteria of your measure. 2. The score for each measure follows a decile-based benchmarking system. Because each collection type (claims, registry, or EHR) has a separate benchmark based on historical data, the scores you get may be different based on collection type. (See "Documentations of Current Medications in the Medical Record" on page 61.) We encourage you to check out the "7 Steps to Avoid a 7% Penalty in 2019" infographic at www.apma.org/mips7steps to help understand the 2019 PY better. a. For the same collection type: The same level of performance (let's say 90 percent) for two different measures may give you vastly different scores as a result of the benchmarking data. b. For the same measure: If the same measure can be reported via multiple collection types (claims, registry, or EHR) as in the example pictured, it can have different scores because of the benchmarking data. Be sure to check out the 2019 MIPS PY resources at www. apma.org/mips2019. APMA will provide a webinar to discuss changes to the MIPS program as a result of the recent MIPS 2020 PY Final Rule. ■ Contact Dr. Christina at jrchristina@apma.org, Dr. Lehrman at jdlehrman@apma.org, and Dr. Tower at detower@apma.org.
