Retired USAF Col. Joseph Agostinelli,
DPM, Elected AAPSM President
The American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine
(AAPSM) is pleased to announce that retired US Air Force
(USAF) Col. Joseph Agostinelli, DPM, a retired sports medicine podiatrist in Niceville, FL, was elected president. Dr.
Agostinelli has more than 23 years of active duty in the
USAF and 13 years in private practice. He is board certified
by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the
American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He was inducted
into the World Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2015.
Dr. Agostinelli's vision for AAPSM is to support and promote the academy membership as the subject matter expert in lower extremity sports medicine.

APMWA Announces 35th Annual
Student Writing Competition
The American Podiatric Medical Writers Association
(APMWA) has announced its 35th Annual Student
Writing Competition. All papers must be non-technical
in nature. Appropriate subjects include practice management, ethics, law, education, or any topic that would
be suitable for a lay publication. There is no word limit.
Papers will be evaluated for content, style, grammar,
and overall impact. First prize: $1,000; second prize:
$750; third prize: $500. The competition is sponsored
by an APMA Educational Foundation endowment from
Dr. and Mrs. Steven Berlin. Honorable mention certificates may also be awarded. This competition is open to
any enrolled podiatric student. Entries must be received
by April 1 at bblock@podiatrym.com. Entries become
the property of APMWA, which may arrange publication of the entry.

AAWP Announces Founders
Scholarship Winners
The American Association for Women Podiatrists (AAWP)
is pleased to announce the 2020-21 Founders Scholarship awardees. These fourth-year podiatric medical students are emerging leaders, community-minded, and
dedicated to their studies, representing the best of what
AAWP stands for: " cultivating personal and professional
development of female podiatric physicians, through education, advocacy, leadership, mentorship, and networking endeavors. "
In the unprecedented year of 2020, AAWP decided to extend its spirit of outreach and service to the profession to
include five scholarship awards. This year's honorees are:
