Experience
* Candidates should be able to demonstrate, by virtue of training and experience,
expertise in the evaluation and treatment of
a wide variety of foot and ankle pathologies.
* Board eligibility or certification in forefoot
surgery is required.
* Knowledge and experience in non-invasive,
technology-based, modalities, including
shockwave therapy, ultrasound, PRP injections, plantar pressure analysis, and other
evolving modalities is preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Run a high-volume, primarily technologybased, outpatient practice in a growing
nationally recognized Foot & Ankle Program at MGH.
* Participate in the forefoot surgical care of the
MGH/NWH Foot and Ankle Center, Podiatric
population.
* Must be able to work closely with a multidisciplinary team including foot and ankle orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, fellows,
residents, and students.
* Demonstrate a willingness and interest in
podiatric research and publication.
* Provide outpatient clinical care at in a
variety of MGH locations, including: MGH
Main Campus (Boston), MGH/NWH Foot &
Ankle Center (Waltham, MA), and affiliated
MGH Health Centers.
* Provide call coverage, on a rotating basis,
with other members of the Podiatry Service.
* Participate in inpatient consults.
* Participate in weekly meetings and academic
conferences.

director of Podiatric Services. The Podiatry
Service at MGH is a section of the Orthopaedic
Foot and Ankle Division in the Department of
Orthopaedics. This position represents a unique
opportunity for the right individual to help
build a highly resourced, forefoot surgically
based podiatry service at one of the world's

leading academic health-care institutions. Since
1811, Massachusetts General Hospital has been
committed to delivering standard-setting medical care through clinical excellence, pioneering
research, and world-class education. The successful candidate will work closely with the chief
of Foot and Ankle Orthopaedics to continue
building a world-class podiatric service as part
of our Foot and Ankle Center of Excellence. As
a member of our renowned Foot and Ankle
Center team, the successful candidate will be
responsible for the administration, growth, and
development of the Podiatry Service at MGH.
They will also provide forefoot surgical and
non-surgical care for a diverse range of patients
having disease states that run the spectrum of
foot and ankle pathology.
The successful candidate will have:
* A minimum of 10 years practicing podiatry
in an academic medical center.
* A minimum of 5 years in a leadership
position within a podiatry department.
* D e m o n s t r a t e d e x p e r i e n c e w o rk i n g
collaboratively with a multidisciplinar y
team including Orthopaedics, Vascular,
General Surgery, and Physical Therapy.
* Published at least three research articles as
first author in peer-reviewed journals.
* Demonstrated experience lecturing on
podiatric topics at regional and/or national
conferences.
* Demonstrated experience and expertise
in the evaluation and treatment of a wide
variety of foot and ankle pathologies.
* Board certification in at least forefoot
surgery is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage a growing Podiatry Service as part
of the Division of Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgery within the Department of
Orthopaedics at MGH.
* Oversee administrative tasks related to
Podiatry Service.
* Assist with recruiting and on-boarding of
new podiatry staff as indicated.
* Provide ongoing mentorship to existing
staff.
* Expand on current strategic plan for the
service and align with newly created Department Strategic Plan.
* Lead quality initiatives for Podiatry Service,
such as ongoing professional performance
evaluations.
* Foster the development of important division/department initiatives, such as orthobiologics program, retail store, orthotics,
and durable medical equipment program.
* Manage a high-volume outpatient practice
including the use of modalities such as
ult ras ound, f luoro s copy, sho ck wave,
TekScan, and orthobiologics.
* Participate in the non-surgical and forefoot
surgical care of patients at MGH.
* Provide outpatient clinical care in a variety
of MGH locations, including: MGH Main
Campus (Boston), MGH/NWH Foot &

Ankle Center (Waltham, MA), and affiliated
MGH Health Centers.
* Share call coverage, on a rotating basis, with

including both inpatient and emergency
room consultations.
