Additional Recruitment
Funding = Broader Opportunities
for Step Into Podiatry Campaign
In the September-October issue of APMA News,
the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery
(ABFAS) and the American Board of Podiatric
Medicine (ABPM) shared their perspectives on
student recruitment and why they continue to
extensively support APMA's student recruitment
eff orts. Outside of APMA's fi nancial contribution,
ABFAS and ABPM continue to be the top fi nancial
contributors to this initiative. These organizations
have demonstrated their long-term support of student
recruitment through multiyear commitments
to the campaign, with matching grant opportunities
to grow the campaign and engage other
stakeholders from the profession.
In the previous student recruitment update
in APMA News, ABPM and ABFAS presented
another matching grant opportunity. Each board
will contribute an additional $25,000 if APMA
can raise $25,000 in recruitment funding from
other profession stakeholders, such as state
components. That's a grand total of an additional
$75,000 for the campaign. As of December 8,
2021, APMA had raised $16,500 in pledges from
the following stakeholders:

* California Podiatric Medical Association
* Florida Podiatric Medical Association
* The Foundation for Podiatric Medicine (NY)
* Georgia Podiatric Medical Association
* Indiana Podiatric Medical Association
* Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association
* Maryland Podiatric Medical Association
* Massachusetts Foot and Ankle Society, Inc.
* Michigan Podiatric Medical Association
* Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association

An additional $75,000 in funding would go
a long way to cover the costs of an additional
digital advertising campaign to support student
recruitment and complement the ongoing social
media recruitment advertising campaign. Digital
advertising campaigns have produced recordbreaking
results for student recruitment and
have helped APMA successfully reach millions of
prospective students.
APMA has heard and understands the concerns
of the profession regarding the immediate need
to increase the number of podiatric medical
school applicants. While our primary focus has
been and will continue to be a high school-aged
audience based on our market research, an
additional advertising campaign would present
the opportunity to target select undergraduate
students as well, in an eff ort to increase applications
immediately.
APMA continues to implement a successful
student recruitment campaign, which has produced
astounding results that have been shared
with stakeholders and the profession. We want
our profession's stakeholders to be equally proud
of the work we have done together. To help us
reach our $25,000 goal and achieve the matching
grants from ABFAS and ABPM, please contact
