Candidate for Treasurer
As I write this statement, it is a little
surreal to think that nine years
ago I was elected to my first term
on the APMA Board of Trustees.
I had a first- and fourth-grader at
the time, and what seems like a lifetime later on
some days, they are now a high school sophomore
and a college freshman! It has been a
wonderful privilege watching my children thrive
and grow even through the ups and downs of the
adolescent and teenage years. Similarly, though
we have faced some tough challenges in the general
health-care arena, and some more poignant
podiatry-focused issues, it has been a privilege
to be part of the APMA board " family " as we have
tackled these issues for the betterment of our
profession. Like any family, not everyone agrees
100 percent of the time during our discussions,
but I can assure you that your volunteer board
members give of themselves tirelessly as they
believe wholeheartedly in our great profession!
Nine years ago, as a first-time candidate, I shared
about the power of positive thinking, and encouraging
people to have a " can-do " attitude, rather
than a " can't-do " attitude. I try to live the can-do
attitude daily.
As your treasurer, I will continue to have the
we CAN attitude that is needed to turn obstacles
into opportunities. I know that with continued
collective efforts of all involved, and outside-thebox
thinking when needed, we CAN overcome

to Non-Ascending
Position on the
Board of Trustees
Thank you for the opportunity to
continue to represent the members
of APMA as the non-ascending representative
to the Board of Trustees.
My term started with a tumultuous year and a
half marred by COVID-19. The House of Delegates
I am looking forward to running for the
position of president-elect this year and to
continuing all my efforts to help improve every
aspect of the podiatric medical profession for
my colleagues.

garner even more successes in the health policy
and legislative arenas; we CAN continue to
create more non-dues revenue streams to help
grow our budget and the services we offer; and,
being acutely aware of the economic challenges
faced by all, we CAN find more convenient, flexible
dues payment options, making membership
more attractive and accessible to all podiatrists.
Your APMA Board of Trustees has recently
revamped the APMA strategic plan, and this
revamped plan will be our guide for the next
several years. We CAN thrive and we CAN grow if
together we use our strategic plan and keep our
focus. As your treasurer, I will always ask how a
program or event we are considering funding fits
into the strategic plan. Quite simply put: APMA
dollars should be spent within the confines of
the strategic plan, to serve the members of our
association and advance our profession. Over
the years, many of us have weighed opportunities
by asking ourselves, " How many members'
dues does it take to fund this initiative? "
I will continue to ask this question and make
sure your dues dollars are being overseen and
used appropriately.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you for the
past nine years on your APMA Board of Trustees.
I would be honored to be elected as your treasurer,
where I will continue to be a voice for our
members and to work diligently to make a positive
difference!

I had come from a very strong board from the
state of Ohio. I have found that the true strength
of the APMA Board of Trustees is actually working
together and growing together. The board has not
disappointed our profession and continues to grow.
I've recently moved to the state of South
Carolina, where the ankle law passed only four
years ago. It has become very evident to me that
