Another example of APMA's advocacy relates to
the skin substitute policy that was proposed last
year but not put into effect. This policy would have
limited skin substitutes and their reimbursements.
And now, seven Part B MACs have proposed
identical Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs)
that more resemble a national policy by CMS than
LCD policies. This action is a game changer if it
goes through, with huge implications for wound
care. Medicare contractors are again proposing
new restrictions and limitations on skin substitutes
including applications and eligible products. This
policy is not supported by data, science, and good
patient care. Thanks to consistent support from
APMAPAC supporters like you, APMA can leverage
its congressional relationships to influence and
educate CMS to stop this proposal.
Again, APMA advocacy and APMAPAC have

APMAPAC on the Road
APMAPAC currently attends the following meetings:
* The New York Podiatric Clinical Conference;
* The Florida Podiatric Medical Association's
Science & Management (SAM) Symposium;
* The American College of Foot and Ankle
Surgeons' (ACFAS) Scientific Conference;
* The APMA House of Delegates;
* The Western Foot & Ankle Conference; and
* The APMA Annual Scientific Meeting (The National)
This year, we are also attending state meetings in
Georgia, Ohio, and Texas. So please come see us to
hear about the latest news in Washington, DC, and
how it affects you, your practice, and your patients.
At these meetings, we hold a raffle for an exciting,
valuable prize. Raffle prizes vary depending on
location. This year, we have raffled a " Night on the
Town, " including a Broadway play and dinner in
Manhattan for the New York Clinical Conference;
at SAM, it was a family tour of the Florida
Everglades; and at ACFAS and the Western, it was
conference registration for next year's meetings.
