What do you love most about being an audiologist?
I love the challenge of providing hearing tests and seeing how the test results
data match client concerns about communication. Putting these puzzle pieces
together is gratifying and also validates client comments.

How would you describe your online learning
experiences with ASHA Professional Development
courses?
Last year, I participated in Audiology 2017* on providing services to the
elderly. The variety and depth of information was highly beneficial, and I've
shared much of this knowledge with the graduate students in class and clinics,
as well as with clients (when appropriate).

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my husband, daughters, and now two grandchildren-
and, of course, all of the dogs. My husband and I also enjoy hiking on nature
trails-nothing too challenging but just being out in nature and watching the
changing scenery.

How do you maintain your work-life balance?
This varies by semester. Life is very busy in the spring when I'm maintaining a
clinical caseload, supervising graduate students in the Audiology and Aural
Rehab clinical tracks, reviewing graduate applications for admissions. BUT, I
try very hard to put away the laptop and not look at e-mails for more than an
hour each day on the weekend. I might craft responses but won't send them
until the next work week begins.
