R o B i n S Gregg Mastorakos Before 2010, one might not have imagined that a chronically neglected and abandoned building - a former home for an adult boutique in Phoenix - could be transformed into a highly sustainable, net zero energy building. But the design and operation of the DPR Construction Phoenix Regional Office has made this once unfathomable idea a reality, thanks in part to another seemingly outlandish idea for a building in the middle of the desert: using passive strategies to condition the office for much of the year. 6 HIGH PERFORMING BUILDINGS Spring 2014
