i+D - Design Product Guide 2020 Industry Highlights On March 31, 2020, ASID began conducting pulse surveys to identify issues interior design businesses and professionals are experiencing in real time. Following are highlights from that research. For more results and to participate in future surveys, visit asid.org/resources/covid-19/pulsesurvey. The work of the interior design community experienced somewhat significant impact during the beginning peak of the pandemic (Mar./Apr.), but stabilized thereafter with minimal impact even during disruptions from state reopenings (May). Business development has been top of mind throughout the pandemic, accompanied by client engagement. We see steady progress in active projects and overall recovery. Active projects were reported by 69% of designers (July 28 survey) compared to 38% during state shutdowns (April 14 survey). 4.1 3.1 3.0 No Impact 5 Significant Impact 4.0 2.5 3 Concern 2.1 2.0 2.2 2.0 2.0 2.1 1.0 2020 March 31 April 14 April 28 May 12 May 26 June 9 June 23 July 28* Business development 2 Concern Business operations 1 Concern TOP CONCERNS We strive to provide well-designed environments that support occupant health, safety and wellbeing from a human-centered approach. 5.0 1 CHANGES IN WORK We thrive in our role in creating healthy, safe and better environments, and demonstrate the power of being resilient and collaborating with others to further advance the industry and profession.
