The new tower addition featured a larger suite ratio than the original tower so a greater amount of consideration was put into developing these room types with the client. "As we developed the design scheme, wood became the focal material that brought a sense of warmth to the rooms and allowed us to play up our connection to the design inspiration of the whole project," Whaley says. Additionally, the new tower has views of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee that the design team wanted to showcase. This meant opening the center of the two bay corner suites as much as possible.
