"The highlight of these
rooms is the bedroom closet
wall," adds Bremer. "The
Birch sliding panel doors
have a pattern that could
appear as the reflection of
light on waves, as leaves
blowing in the wind, or
even sparks of a flame. A
soft light glows from the
cutouts creating a one-ofa-kind feature that changes
dynamically as the closet or
restroom doors are opened."

Other Areas
The original hotel lobby
is beautifully clad in a
horizontal design of caramel
stained White Oak. "Given
the proximity, we wanted to
continue that horizontality
in the spa," says Bremer.
Stained Eucalyptus, Larch,
and Birdseye Maple veneer
are layered within the feature
wall at the spa's lobby and
entry. "The form draws from
the architectural cues of the
existing lobby but reference
the sedimentation of
limestone along the lakeshore.
The different grains of the
wood play with the serenity
of muted driftwood tones."

At the men's salon,
charred Accoya wood brings
a little more masculinity
to that space and recalls
the idea of the remnants
of a beach bonfire. Rift cut
White Oak with a warm,
coppery finish warms up the
woodwork at the treatment
rooms and salon.
The 2014 meeting rooms
play with the forest as a
design cue, with Birch-like
wallcoverings, and entry
points punctuated by
architectural elements clad in
Sapele.
