Woodworking, the firm
produced wall paneling,
ceiling panels, feature beam
ceiling at the reception
area, stair panels, fireplace
enclosures, casework, doors,
barn doors and sidelight
frames, and standing and
running trim for the project.
Alder, both solid plain sawn
and veneer plain sliced was
used.

Alder was selected to be
used throughout the facility
as it provides a light grain
appearance and surface
depth while avoiding the
monolithic feel of a dark
stain, notes Theiss. " It was
also chosen for its natural
warmth and affordability. "

The feature beam ceiling,
although the beams were
simple, the shape of the
ceiling perimeter and the
multitude of angled joints
proved to be challenging
on the onset of the project,
says Fletcher. " We met with
the installer prior to moving
this product into engineering
to gain insight on what the
installers felt was going to be
their challenges in the field.
The installer was concerned
with all the different angles
and the long cuts that would
have to be executed in
the field. Not only with the
beams, but also in laying
out the blocking. We also
worked with the other trades
coordinating plumbing,
electrical, fire protection,
alarm systems and the
framing of the ceiling itself. "

" Our team was responsible
for taking the conceptual
designs of each area
and collaborate with the
architectural design team
to develop a working set of
shop drawings that met the
design and function goals
of the architect and owner, "
Fletcher continues. " We also
contributed to developing
details, recommending
materials to be used in our
product that would achieve
the design and function goals
of the architect and owner,
and coordinating with other
trades' work in the areas our
products were being installed. "

The most intricate and
noteworthy element created
by Central Wisconsin
Woodworking is the ceiling
feature, says Theiss. " As a
ceiling feature is installed last,
the design and fabrication
of the panel had to be done
after all the lights, sprinklers
and HVAC diffusers were
documented and installed.
The panel was then designed
to fit and purposefully move
around all necessary ceiling
elements. This was an
inherent risk to the off-site
construction and pre-finish
method, and it was overcome
by excellent communication
and coordination. "
