8 Conduct a coordination meeting
in the field with all other related
trades. Go to the meeting with
a set of drawings indicating all
in-wall blocking to be installed by
another contractor. Page 3 3.1c
instructs the Standard user that
if not provided, installer shall
seek written directives. Prepare
templates or floor plates to
maintain openings and coordinate
other trade work. Thinking ahead
and providing an answer before
the question is asked about what
the next guy needs can help
keep the project on track and
reduce errors based on unspoken
assumptions.
9 Consider the lack of field
dimensions not as a stop sign,
but just as a bend in the road.
When field dimensions are not
available in time to support a
production / release, a signed
agreement regarding " Hold to "
dimensions must be documented
and distributed to all involved
parties to keep the project on
schedule.
10 Preparatory work completed
by other trades requires an
inspection by the woodwork
installer long before woodwork
installation begins. This work
can be rejected for cause prior to
commencement of architectural
woodwork installation. Remember
walls and ceiling variation in
excess of being plumb, level, flat,
straight, square or of the correct
size as stated in the contract
documents are not acceptable,
must be corrected and are not
the responsibility of the installer.
Notice to correct these must be
issued to the contractor.
11 Reveal strips set into panel
grooves that float freely are
a necessary and wise way
to inconspicuously allow for
the inevitable expansion and
contraction that occurs between
panels through the seasons.
Those should appear on the shop
drawings.
12 Maintain compliant ADA
installation dimensions.
13 A major cause for failure in
an architectural woodwork
installation is the lack of control
for maintaining a consistent
year-round relative
humidity. Know
the recommended
controlled relative
humidity for your
jobsite location. Do
not deliver product to
the field until HVAC is
fully functioning and
relative humidity is
constantly measured
and maintained at
the level that will
be consistent after
occupation. Provide
a weekly report of
the jobsite heat/
humidity readings weeks prior
to installation commencement.
This will provide adequate
notice to the contractor for
any require adjustment. Your
