14 Allow all materials to acclimate to a controlled environment before commencement of installation for a minimum of 72 hours. 15 Provide appropriate protection from UV light for all finish material shipped, stored and installed. Material left unprotected may experience fading due to UV exposure causing the finished product to no longer match the approved color sample. 16 To expedite sorting and distribution time when unloading a delivery, consider a color code identification on each unit so that the labor in charge of the unload and distribution can easily identify the delivery floor location. Consider shipping running trim that you have already had sorted, wrapped together, and allocated for each floor. Your products being carefully handled and bundled securely at the plant will add slightly more time in the plant's shipping department but will reduce the time the products spend in storage, being sorted by others on the project site, and reducing potential damage and exposure to abuse at the site while waiting installation day. 17 Maintaining the project schedule is very important to a successful project. A fast-track project places a lot of demands on every trade. Here are some things that can expedite your installation prior to all finished product arriving at the jobsite: Wall paneling: Provide all furring, shims and panel clips in advance of the finished paneling. Installing these items in advance of the paneling is approximately 50% or more of the wall paneling installation. Casework: Provide all ladder base platforms in advance of the base cabinets. Installing the platforms in advance of the cabinets will not only expedite the base cabinet installation but will also allow other trades such as resilient flooring to proceed and accelerate the schedule, and make it possible for them to work around the low base platforms reducing the risk of damaging the casework. Die walls: Die wall construction with a separate bottom plate will allow the shop to send this component out to the field in advance of the finish die walls. The floor plate should have all " rib locations " identified. Securing the floor plate at the installation location will expedite a coordination effort for the interface of power and data. Having the power and data " stub ups " come up through the floor plate at a location other than the rib locations will save time and labor as the ribs will not have to be remodeled in the eleventh hour. summer 2021 I designsolutions 55
