bars, safes and Wi-Fi access.
Suites add living rooms and
free-standing soaking tubs.
Room service is offered 24/7.
Dining and nightlife options
range from a hip restaurant/
bar with a terrace, to a posh
speakeasy-style lounge and
bowling alley. There's also a
vibrant market, a rooftop pool
with fire pits, and a spa, as
well as 70,000 square feet of
event space.
Built on the site of the
former Louisville Water
Company, the Omni
Louisville Hotel weaves the
city's historic past within
a comfortable setting
adorned with touches of
modern luxury. Interior
architecture and design
for new construction of the
612-room hotel, lobby, five
venues, meeting space, spa,
fitness area, pool bar and
deck was commissioned
to the firm of Waldrop +
Nichols Studio, Dallas, Texas.
Architectural woodwork for
the project was fabricated by
Allegheny Millwork, an AWI
member firm from Lawrence,
Pennsylvania.

Design Objectives
According to Reggi
Nichols of Waldrop + Nichols
Studio, the primary objective
was to infuse the pure
essence of Louisville into
the interior architectural
design to blend elements
of the city's heritage,
culture and characteristics
to create a sense of place.
" Iconic landmarks and
the multifaceted lifestyle
provided the framework and
foundation of the design, "
she says.
Landmarks were used plus
reinterpreted to infuse the
hotel with iconic Louisville
elements with a new
approach and a refined urban
industrialism. Big four bridge
truss, historic store front of
main street, Morrissey parking
garage and the Louisville
Water Company were key
landmarks. " As the design
team worked to achieve
authentic implementation
of the design concepts,
interior designer and the
woodworking team had to
overcome budget challenges.
The team brought a breadth
of knowledge and strategies
to bring viable building
solutions to the table, " she
explains.
The lobby is designed to
resemble a deconstructed
bourbon barrel to immerse
guests in Kentucky's rich
bourbon heritage upon
arrival. A prominent landmark
against the Louisville skyline,
the intersection of hotel
and residential towers are
uniquely expressed as bold
overlapping architectural
forms. The ground level is
designed to embrace the
neighborhood with vibrant
spaces for both locals and
hotel guests. Restaurant
tenants can open doors and
walls to provide guests with
indoor or outdoor dining
options. The hotel is a sevenminute
walk to the Louisville
Convention Center and a
seven-mile drive from the
airport, making it a major
draw for meeting planners.
