he Aquinas PTO is an essential component of our school supporting the entire school
community. In this year of COVID their role and fundraising opportunities were severely
limited but that did not deter this group of dedicated parents! They found new ways to
continue the treasured Aquinas traditions. Highlighted below are just a few examples.

RACE FOR EDUCATION
On Friday, November 13, PTO held the annual Race for Education. For the second year,
the funds raised were for the purchase of additional upgraded interactive boards. This
year in light of the pandemic and the lower enrollment due to capped classrooms, the
goal was set at $15,000 and paired with the goal of reaching 1,000 prayer pledges
for the Daily Decade Rosary campaign. Sister Mary Sheila promised the students
that if the fundraising goal was met by November 20-along with the school's prayer
campaign goal-the entire school would celebrate with a day off on December 8, the
Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Patron Saint of the United States. The Race
exceeded both goals, raising over $18,000 and reaching 1,020 prayer pledges. Aquinas
purchased six more upgraded interactive boards from Promethean using the funds
raised through the Race for Education.
FAUX FESTIVAL
A much loved, annual event is the Fall
Festival but in this year of COVID that
event simply could not take place in
its usual format. That didn't stop the
PTO though. They came up with the
Faux Festival! It was a 'barrel' of fun as
students hurdled hay bales, limboed all
about, and enjoyed a candy walk. Held
during the school day, access to the
event was limited and students remained
in their classroom 'bubble' with social
distancing and disinfecting between
classes. It may have been different but it
was a huge hit with everyone.
