The Provost's Diversity Fellow Program is
designed to support the development of scholars
who demonstrate promise of fulfilling a distinguished
teaching and research career, particularly those
who are historically underrepresented in the
professoriate, who not only add diverse perspectives,
but those whose educational experiences are
varied. The Diversity Fellowships are intended for
students who have completed all coursework,
comprehensive exams, and where appropriate,
completed all requirements other than the

the 2019-2020 academic year and have
preliminary data for modifications and improvement in the following year. Over the course of

As Buffalo State nears completion of Year 1
of its five-year $2.2 million U.S. Department
of Education Title III grant, Insight to Impact,
significant progress has been made in the development
of an improved first-year experience. The grant is
designed to improve first-year retention rates and,
eventually, graduation rates by focusing on two
primary efforts: strengthening student services and
strengthening academic services.

* The design of an online summer engagement
program for incoming students and the development of digital supplemental instruction modules
for high DEW courses.
* The hiring of a data analyst/retention coordinator to develop a predictive analytics framework
to identify at-risk students.

Urban Engaged Campus. This plan is built around
four primary goals:
1. Provide an Excellent Education Inside and
Outside the Classroom
2. Continue to Create an Engaged Community
3. Enhance Institutional Effectiveness
4. Provide Appropriate Resources Necessary
to Succeed
In 2017, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness
was created. To monitor progress toward the
goals outlined in the Strategic Plan and to allow
for better assessment and resource allocation,
the office initiated the use of Taskstream to link
annual report data with strategic initiatives.
