The Louisiana-based company offers navigation, positioning, sonar and geophysics services for its clients throughout the Gulf of Mexico. “No matter where you go, you have to have an idea of where you’re going,” President Douglas Cochrane says. “If a customer has a boat at a dock and they need to go out into the Gulf of Mexico to find a pipeline, we navigate them from one place to another.” To maneuver these clients, Cochrane Technologies uses its proprietary software, which it wrote and is constantly amending and upgrading. Randy Menard, vice president of operations, explains that once the company has navigated a client to its desired area, the work turns into positioning of that vessel for a particular project. Some projects, such as placing a rig on the correct location, can last just a few days, while pipeline construction projects take much longer.
